You were correct to post in the Engine Management forum but for your specific question, you might get a better response in the Aftermarket Turbo forum. Do you have any idea of what type of engine management you will be using? A stand-alone like the TEC3? A piggyback of some sort? Or maybe an Apex'i fueler like the S-AFC?

You don't really get "chips" for our kind of car.

If you want improved engine management you are pretty much stuck with a standalone. Or a unichip. However the Unichip doesn't help much because you still need a larger MAP sensor.

For ease of installation they have plug and play systems out there. You just remove the old ecu and plug in the new one. Then plug in your laptop and give it a shot.
these systems include but are not limited to:
The Link and LinkPlus
Hydra Nemesis

The TEC II- PEMS is a system that used to be around. I'm sure if you looked for a used one you could find it. It's more of a piggy back system, that completely controlls the engine above idle.

I really don't know what type of engine mng't I would be using, I don't really know anything about this sort of thing. Pretty much the only thing I wanted the chip for was to take away the rpm and speed limiter. Thanks.

yeah, they don't make those.
If they did, I'd have one too.
I want to up my redline, but it just doesn't happen.

So you're saying that the fastest my car will ever be able to go is 112 miles per hour? There is no chip anywhere that can undo that?

You're not listening.

There isn't a "chip" like you're talking about.

Your car CAN go over 112MPH.
BUt you have to buy some expensive stuff.

Why is your car limited to 112?
What is it?

If your plan is to turbo, then buy a turbo kit that includes a LINK Plus ECU. Then your problems are solved

The speed limiter and the rev limiter are two different things. The rev limiter, which you don't want to mess with, is there to keep your motor from blowing itself up or simply falling apart. The speed limiter is there to, well... limit your speed. Pull that off if you want, but it will pretty much require a stand alone ecu.

Impreza RSX,
There is a "chip" that will do what I want, which is to remove the speed limiter. I found it for 250 bucks which I didn't think was too bad. Maybe we have two different ideas of what a "chip" is.

Torque chip?
It isn't what it claims.

Yeah, that's what I heard too. I posted a similar question in the non turbo forum. They said that the turque chip didn't show any gains on the dyno and recommended the proECM.com chip. I plan on getting the proECM and not for horsepower, either. The only reason I want it is to remove the 112 mph speed limiter. If it does increase hp and torque, great, if not, oh well, the speed limiter is gone.

I understand.

however, you are still stuck with the rev limiter at the stock location.

That's fine with me. Since my max horsepower is around 5800, I got to thinking that it would probably do more harm than good having the rpm limiter gone. Also, if I get a turbo, won't my max horsepower be at a lower rpm anyway?
