car shutting off?

i was wondering what would make my car just shut off?
id be at a light and out of nowhere my car shuts off.. (radior fan turns on then my idle gets crazy and then just drops, and shuts my car off) and my car just shutting off while i am driving...


this is really annoying and skurry

thanks for the suggestions, i need an engine rebuild or something, what is usually done during a engine rebuild? and how much does it run for.

yeah and sometimes it just shuts off without the fan turning on.

thats the weird part, it doesnt always happen. sometimes i could have a hard time cranking over and doesnt want to stay on at all..

other times it turns then starts then has a unstable idle but still stays on

and at other times it will have the easiest time starting and will have a perfect idle..

:\ i option #3 wish that was the situation all the time

unbolt the radiator cap(the metal one), and leave the car run for a few minutes.

my car did that twice when I having coolant problems, car would shake and spurt, puke and cough, then shut off on its own. I unbolted the radiator cap, relieved the pressure(air bubbles in the system), then it seemed to run fine. COULD be coincidence, but hey, its worth a shot. Just take off the cap, the one on the radiator, leave the car run for a few minutes, then cap it!
