avo boost controller for 2004 sti

i recently bought a boost controllerfor my sti .the box said 2001 but the guy that sold me said it works for up to two extra lbs of boost for 2004 and theengines computer wont trip.id like to know if you guys have tried this or know about this?

Car Info: 1993/2000/2001 GF4 mostly red

I'd have my doubts as the STi ECU is different than a WRX. Of course, if the BC is for a 2001 STi then it might work after all.
