2.5RS Turbo Kit - Which One???
Looking for a turbo kit for my 2000 2.5RS. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Don't want to sacrifice reliability for huge HP gains. New to this message board, but from what I have read it's a terrific resource.
Thanks,

If you are concerned about reliability, then just about any Stage I or II kit you can get will fit the bill. Personally I would go with a Ludespeed kit if they are currently available. There is also a good kit from AVO from www.spomotorsports.com

Dammit! Every time I see that dyno chart, I torture myself over not having one of those!
Bump for Bill- he can do what you want with a turbo RS, GARR-OWN-TEED.

this person has a Stage 2 Forcedairtech kit with Dynos (13psi w/91 octane gas 220whp @ 5700 RPM's 260ft torque @ 3900 RPM's), list of mods (long list), 1/4 mile times (13.166 @ 103 MPH), and pics. just click on which one you want at the bottom of this page:

Is it a good idea to have a stock wrx turbo setup for RS?
What parts do I need from a stock wtx turbo setup?

the stock setup won't even work, because the exhaust manifold won't bolt up, and even if you could make it fit, the turbo for the wrx flows up to 14 psi, whick would DESTROY the EJ25 because of it's high compression.
with proper management and custom fabrication to make everything fit, it could theoretically work, but the kind of restrictions you'd have to put on it would make it almost pointless, the wastegate would come in just about as soon as the turbo started spooling.
better to go with a kit like the avo or ludespeed kits.

is there such thing as a turbo kit that you can set boost to 0psi, 5psi or whatever you want? so that you only turn it on when you wanna burn someone.
and what kit is most reliable?

there's an easy way to set your boost to 0psi... don't drive like an idiot!
turbos don't spool until 2-3k rpm, so if you're just driving around you won't be boosting and you won't be wasting any gas. (turbo engine management only adds more fuel when it senses the extra air)
then again having the turbo there makes it waaay too tempting to rev it higher than you need to, and put off shifting until that gear gets fun
either that or set the wastegate to be always open... but what's the point of having a turbo then? if you just want to "burn someone", you probably shouldn't be driving a fast car on the streets. whats to stop you from "burning someone" untill you run yourself into a brick wall?
