Hooray for non-performance upgrades.

Well, I found out that the brand new, supposedly only available on the 08 Imprezas, iPod integration kit worked with any Subaru with Satellite radio options. Only problem is, the radio in my 05 GT doesn't have that built in. But, the 07 Legacy GT spec b stereo does, and that thing is a direct replacement for my 05 radio. Looks a bit different, but all the plugs on the back are the same.

Anyway, I got the radio last week and the iPod kit tonight. Here are some pics from the install.

The hole for the cable to come into the armrest:


From the bottom of the console. As you can see in this pic, Subaru supplies you with a grommet for this hole.


Here is the control module. It has two wires coming off it. A round one that goes to your iPod, and a flat one that plugs into the back of the radio.


Here is a bad picture of my 4th Gen 20GB iPod connected. You can't see it in the picture, but a Subaru logo is displayed.


Here is a picture of my 16GB iPod Touch connected. Works just fine, as long as you put the thing into music mode.


And here is a picture of the awesome new dash, playing my iPod music.

how much did the spec b radio cost you

 

That's the beauty of this whole project. I had enough Subaru Bucks to basically cover everything.

But, if I were to pay with real money it would have cost like $430 + shipping

 

That'd be worth it if i had subaru bucks

 

Oh, and the iPod kit was like $140 after shipping too IIRC.
