Nick -

If you need Nasioc donation money let me know.

I am always down to support the community. If we need to get some cash together, I can harass the local SCIC people as well.

Of course i-Club makes $. And no, you cannot make living doing that. Unless I open the "flood OT gates" and rack up clicks though GoogleAds. Vendor fee's cover the expenses + a bit more. Nothing to be stashing into the matress for future use, lol.

NASIOC's 100k member number is dramatically overinflated. The member database has not been pruned since day one. I prune i-Club database once a year so anyone inactive for over 1 year gets deleted. Last time I did that, I deleted over 15k "empty suit" members. When I did that, NASIOC's membership had a little less than double of what i-Club had. And seeing how NASIOC's OT is the prime attraction over there and the fact that the datagase has not been prooned since day 1, I wouldn't be surprised if the inactive member number were in the high 50k range.

I mean sure 100k members looks good. But then again, I proved it to you guys a while back that vB stats don't mean anything. Remember the "Currently Online Users" thing I did few months ago?

It's like in Gogol's novel "Dead Souls"... haha.

In any event, I still take my hat off to Nick for making NASIOC into a huge... ... erhm, whatever it is, haha, but it is huge. I am also glad that he is ok. I hope some of you NASIOC fellas would stick around here even after Wilma goes away and enjoys a different type of Subaru community.

Alex, very well put post. I started out here, and used to get on here about once a day. The I started getting on here less and less. I kind of forgot how nice it was here. The people are so much more courtious. The only reason I even get on NASIOC is because of the traffic. It is really busy over there. I have a lot of downtime at work and it, especially the OT make time go by very fast for me. I have no political ties to either site, like some do. Keep up the good work here.

Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics, you're a loser even when you win.

Give Nick some credit here. He boasts the largest online community of Subaru owners and he has a hugely successful web site. The very fact that all of us are here on i-Club bantering about it proves that.

I know that I haven't paid one thin dime to Nick for using the site, and it has been extremely helpful in working on my WRX. There is no way I could put a dollar amount on that.

The fact that many of us, including myself, Monday morning quarterbacked Nick when his site went down, just makes me sick. I'm sure Nick is feeling the same way right now.

I, for one, will offer whatever help I can provide to help Nick through this situation. I think the rest of you should step up to the plate, as well.

I don't use that site really so I can't say I will "step up to the plate" but if the same thing happened to I-Club I would.

That said the chances of a natural disaster causing I-Club to go down is probably a little less since it is colo'd in a real datacenter.
