you will need a roll and a pull for the 9.5's with a 255

Without modification?? Unlikely. You would probably need to have a different suspension set-up, like coilovers, and have your fenders rolled, maybe even pulled.

I think the problem most people have running a 245 or 255 set-up is that the tires will also rub on the shock side.

I can run a 245/40/17 on a 17x8 wheel w/o problems (on my GC coupe), but I have coilovers and the rear fenders are rolled. I think you can run a little bigger on your WRX, but you would have to at least go to the same extent that I have.

I run a 245/40 on a 17x9 with no rubbing unless I have someone in the back. My rear fenders are rolled and im on swift springs. Hope that helps.

I ran 17x8, +45. If you have coilovers, I wouldn't worry about shock side if you have coilovers. I'd be a little concerned about fender size on the rear though.

For some reason, I thought you asked if you can run 255 w/o modifications... in which case, I'd would have said no. But if you have coilovers and rolled fenders, I don't see why not.

i was hopin to run 17x9 with 255 or 245 with just coilovers. i guess im gonna have to get rolled. plus id rather need to roll fenders than need spacers. not a fan of spacers. guess ill try 245 on a 17/9 +42

If youre gonna roll your fenders you might as well go with a 255 since you already have coilovers. I would run 255's if I could.

I don't know if TireRack still has this, but they had Hankook RS3's in 255/40/17 for $135 ea. or something. I think the Star Specs are easily another $30-$40 each.
