My 2.5 RS is about 14 months old with 22K on the odo. Sometimes when I have my clutch pressed in, I hear a screeching sounds and some chatter. Does anyone have any ideas what this is? Also, last April, I had half of my tranny replaced due to my center diff not turning. The noise I heard what this: When I'd decelerate, no gas or clutch pushed in, I heard a grinding sound. I take it in and they listened to the tranny. My bearing were shot and scorched and the reason was the center diff. The noise never really went away, even after they "fixed" it, but now it's worse. I didn't know if this would help you make a better guess at my problem but I figured the more info couldn't hurt. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Thanks, Jeremy
Jeremy,
It's probably your throw-out bearing. Try either (a) loosening your clutch cable(not an option on a hydraulic clutch), or (b) Attach a spring between your intake manifold and the cluth assembly. Works like a charm. Or you can take the amateurs way out and take it to the dealership!. In regards to the grinding noise while deccelerating, it's an all to often occurance on otherwise functional transmissions. Just a part of the wonderful 5 speed tranny!!
