Subaru soon to offer 3" cat-back exhaust systems throught selected dealers

Accoring to my source, Subaru will soon be offering a 3" stainless steel cat-back exhaust systems for 2002-2004 WRX wagons and sedans. It supposed to add horsepower (w/ remap or not I do not know) and a "performance sound".

The muffler will have an angle-cut tip with engraved SPT logo on it. It will come with limited warranty for those who will have it installed at the dealer.

Pricing is yet to be determined, but it will be in ~$450 range, which is dramatically less than the STi muffler they were offering before.

Subhuman posted in General Forums > General about this cat-back system and gave a tentative part number. I plugged it into SubaruParts.com, but it's not valid over-the-counter, yet.

Please keep us posted if you find out when and where we might find this locally.

The SPT/STi muffler they sell now is a poor value for the money, IMO. Even discounted (list retail is over $800), it costs way too much for what is basically an axle back muffler.

It could be relabeled HKS like the intake they had for the RS. They have (HKS/SOA) worked in the past.

Sounds like the right one. I wish there was a pic... The description doesn't say much about it, either. If someone orders this catback I'd sure like to know how it fits and how it sounds.

If that is indeed the one, I am extremely interested in putting it on my WRX (still want to see what it looks like though). When I get a chance, I'll be calling my Subaru dealer.
