So as hard as it is to say this, I have a favorite beer. I thought about this for a while and the closest I was able to come was a favorite couple beers in each category. I have though, continued to enjoy one beer that stands above the rest and that is: Magnolia's Proving Ground IPA. It is simply the best beer I have had, and again this is impossible to say but it's true.
The brewery itself is very hard to deal with and has enjoyed a love/hate relationship with most of my friends who at this point, will not set foot in the place simply because of the attitude of the staff and the bad feelings that always happen there. It's WICKED EXPENSIVE (eg: a burger costs $14 and to refill a growler costs $17.99). You cannot show up with a growler from a different brewery, or even one of their own older growlers, and have them fill it for you. They will most likely give you a hard time and/or make you feel bad whilst you are paying really high prices for their items but STILL Proving Ground IPA is worth all this hassle to obtain.
For those local to SF, you can get the Proving Ground IPA down the street at Toronado without any attitude and oddly enough, a couple bucks cheaper...

I will be picking up the needed ingredients on Monday for another attempt at copying it... Hope it's closer this time!

Burgundy pepper tri-tip with sweet potato fries...alas, no cerveza (dammit work).
p.s.- how long does it take to mince onion flakes?

Okay, making another wheat and another ale like my first "wootbeer" but with Chinook hops for bittering instead of Galena. I liked that one better than the last one I made, so going back to that one and seeing how it is with the different hops. This one will have 8oz of hops like the last ale, but done using the method known as "the right way" so it's not overbearing. Wheat will be similar to the last, however a little lighter in color and taste. More to the point of a "summer beer" with the tartness of the lilikoi again.
