My official residence isn't in the bay area, which makes a huge difference Took the class 2 weeks ago (12hr day, 6 in class, 6 on range). I'm turning my paperwork in at the sheriff's office today to start the background check on me and all of my firearms. Once that's complete, I have to interview with the Sheriff for them to decide if they will grant it. The whole thing can take up to 3 months. Long process, but we live in a rural area and our sheriff is supports it, though that doesn't mean everyone gets approved.
