TrackingPoint, the $27,500 rifle - Jun. 11, 2013
$27,500 gun hits targets at 1,000 yards
A new company in Texas is selling a precision rifle with a unique technology that allows even an inexperienced shooter to hit a target 10 football fields away. The price tag is a staggering $27,500.
Tracking Point describes the weapon as a smartgun, with a trigger wired to the scope so that the gun won't fire until it's locked on the target that's been tagged.
.....
"There are a handful of snipers who can hit a target at 1,000 yards. But now, anybody can do it," he said. "You can put some tremendous capability in the hands of just about anybody, even an untrained shooter."
Indeed, novice shooters from CNNMoney tried the gun and did hit targets 1,000 yards away.
.....
What sets the TrackingPoint rifle apart is its high-tech electronic scope that automatically accounts for distance, gravity, wind speed, humidity, the rotation of the Earth and other variables that can influence whether a bullet hits its target.

High-capacity ammo 'repair kit' lawsuit - SFGate
Looks like they haven't learned from the last time they got sued by the NRA.

Yeah, "handful of snipers who can hit 1000yds" is probably incorrect. There are likely a large number of skilled shooters who can do that. Current record I believe is still 2707yds.
In November of 2009, UK Corporal of Horse (CoH) Craig Harrison of the Household Cavalry Life Guards fired a shot from an Accuracy International L115A3 during the War in Afghanistan that traveled an astounding distance of 2,707 yards, again substantially beating out the previous record holder. This was no coincidental achievement either. Harrison had to creatively modify his equipment on the fly to achieve the level of accuracy needed to make the shot over such a tremendous distance. Nonetheless, Harrison does say in his reports that he owed part of his accomplishment to the fine weather, which was optimal for long-range shooting.

Couldn't agree more. As I am reading the article, all I am thining is how much training/classes I can take for that $27,000 I guess just like with cars, there is demand for technology to compensate for incompetence even with firearms

But learning how to shoot on that level takes actual sweat equity. People these days want something turnkey with zero to minimal effort.
