Nope, don't do anything that isn't specifically tuned for.

i talked to Jerry at Deadbolt about it, because I am thinking of sending mine VF34 there, he said he has several customers who are running this without problems. Why would something like P&P cause problems isnt it just for better air flow?

Why would you post if you didn't want an opinion?

I still wouldn'nt use the map, you're way better off getting a custom one made for he same price. The cobb maps are generic and made for a specific car with a specific set of modifications.

I talked to someone at Cobb it was all explained.

"IF" there were tuners down here in hawaii, i would do a custom tune...unfortunately, there is no AWD dyno...next best thing is an off the shelf map

How about upgrading to Street Tuner, installing a wideband and doing some road tuning, it's not as good as a dyno tune, but much better than running a general map.

Thats my plan to get the Street Tuner, the problem for me right now is $400 upgrage fee, but got to pay to play. Although I am thinking of getting some other EM other then Cobb's stuff

Why do you say that?

My guess is because joe schmo will be tuning it vs. someone who knows what they are doing.
I wouldn't trust myself to do my own tuning. But that's just me.

You guys really need a dyno.

What he said:) I was meaning opposed to something like an Ecutek tune through Gruppe-S or Xede tune through Vishnu. A good tune with someone who is very familiar with the car and the software they are using versus someone like me trying to tune my own, even though I know what I'm doing relatively well, I doubt a tune done by me would be as safe or have as much power as a tune from the Moike :D

Yeah... pro dyno tune>pro off-the-shelf map>self-tune. I was wonderign why you suggested the AP over the standard maps. There's nothing unsafe about mail order reflashes if they come from a reputable tuner.

If you can find a tune that has the exact same mods as you it should be golden, but I still think a rough map then some road tuning he'd be better off since a pro tune can't be had in his area, and by "but much better than running a general map" in my first post I meant general AP map, not an off the shelfer. I've yet to see a P&P job that's identical, so there's no telling how it will be, and the cobb maps are kinda flakey to begin with so I'd be farting diamonds running a ported and polished VF3X on the regular Cobb VF3X map.

Personally I'd trust a road tune better than an off the shelf map, but I road tuned my Turbo Prelude with AEM EMS by myself, so maybe I'm a bit more comfortable than the average person. But I dont' trust myself that much because as soon as I come back from a trip to SE asia I'll be dropping off the wagon to let gruppe take a whack at the street tuner.

yes we do...unfortunately, shops down here think there won't be enough demand for an awd dyno...they say it'll be too expensive to have without the demand for it
