Anyone have interest in this??? Mr. Xevious 12-25-2004, 04:06 PM if you want to put something together, I am sure the rest of the sac people would show up as well :) bemani 12-25-2004, 06:27 PM Roseville is too far for me. kidatari 12-25-2004, 09:11 PM I think we need to put together a meet for us Folsom/Roseville guys who actually mind driving all the way out past fry's... Anyone have interest in this??? What are you whining about again? I did the drive from Marysville down to the Sac meets every week :p Kevin M 12-25-2004, 09:35 PM What are you whining about again? I did the drive from Marysville down to the Sac meets every week :p At least he's not whining about the 10 minute drive from Davis. ;) soggynoodles 12-25-2004, 10:39 PM Heck I'm coming from Elk Grove. I never really thought about how far the drive was until someone pointed it out. It's a good 30min drive for me. It takes an hour to get to Folsom.:( What day did you have in mind? Double Phister 12-26-2004, 03:54 AM Soggy and I are gonna start an east Elk Grove meet cuz 99 is too far away. sybir 12-26-2004, 10:06 AM We're gonna start an East Natomas meet. Driving all the way over to Del Paso and Truxel is killing me :( Seriously, I drove from Camino every week when I was living up there, the Reno guys come down regularly, and you can't drive 15-20 minutes? :D I worry about too many small meets diluting the community :( nachomc 12-26-2004, 10:42 AM Why would we make seperate meets? That would be stupid because instead of one big meet we'd have multiple small meets. We chose the spot out here because it's the most central spot we could find for the people in the area - davis, roseville, sac, EG, folsom..all of it. If you don't want to make the drive, we understand...kind of, but it would be cool if you could make it out. I basically drive from the meet spot to Rancho Cordova every day (for work) and it's not that hard. Really. soggynoodles 12-26-2004, 12:11 PM Seriously, I drove from Camino every week when I was living up there, the Reno guys come down regularly, and you can't drive 15-20 minutes? :D I worry about too many small meets diluting the community :( That's true. We have the reno < CA peeps that come down as well. Now, that's a drive! Kevin M 12-26-2004, 12:57 PM That's true. We have the reno > CA peeps that come down as well. Now, that's a drive! Werd. Nick Koan 12-26-2004, 01:51 PM reno > CA Quoted for truth. soggynoodles 12-26-2004, 02:33 PM Quoted for truth. Well that's what I get for waking up and posting. :( selfowned. :( RussA 12-26-2004, 10:31 PM I drive to the meets from Citrus Heights. Honestly I do not mind the drive at all. Yes Roseville/Folsom would be much much closer for me, but those 2 areas are way more crowded, IMO, than Natomas. Where the regular Sac meets are, we have pleanty of space without worrying of ricers or cops giving us any trouble. Sorry, Roseville and Folsom have too many ricers and people/businesses that, I would think, would have problems with us. Come on, the Meets are once a week. If you want to make some sub meets other nights of the week, I have no problem with that because it wouldn't be conflicting with the main Sacramento meet. No need to divide up the Subaru community here in Sacramento. nachomc 12-26-2004, 10:41 PM We do lunch meets in the Rancho Cordova/Folsom areas on Thursdays usually. You can try to hook up a weeknight get together - not sure what it will get though. The last weeknight meet I went to in this area was in EG and it ended up being 5 people. 3 came in my car.... soggynoodles 12-26-2004, 11:41 PM We do lunch meets in the Rancho Cordova/Folsom areas on Thursdays usually. I am glad someone else brought it up. I don't have a problem with the location of the Saturday meet per say, however, it is hard for me to break up the weekend when I work so much. The weekend is viewed by the significant other as time to spend together and whatnot as we are both off of work. Well, as I only get a chance to come out to the Saturday meets every once in a while I would like to host a weekday evening meet (and since I live in roseville I think it would be convenient). I often leave for the weekend but as I work from Mon-Friday I am assured to be in Roseville so I could come every week! I was thinking we could host the meet at Fairway and Pleasant Grove (right off of 80 and really easy to get to) which has the following in the center: -In and Out burger -Pei Wei Asian Cuisine -Pasta Pomadoro (inexpensive but really tastey Italian) -Krispy Creme Donuts -Daphne’s Greek Diner (good stuff) -Chevron Gas! (actually across the street) All of those places to eat are actually in the Parking lot of the center I think we should meet at but there are many of other food choices just a few blocks away. In and Out is the staple of import ricer cars anyway (lol). There are a lot of other places that we could use if people are interested. Best of all I guess is the fact that Golfland SunSplash is like three blocks from my proposed meeting place! So, in conclusion, I think we should host a midweek meet in the Roseville Area. I would say that Monday/Tuesday Evenings or Thursday Evenings around 7PM would be good (Wednesday has good TV). I don't think we need to try to "END" the Saturday meet but I think it would be cool to have an alternative meet during the week. Heck, I would suggest you attend both (if you have time). If people are interested then maybe Schafer and I could set something up. nachomc 12-27-2004, 01:49 PM Obviously there should be no end to the weekly meet. We tried moving the Saturday meets to a weeknight before but no one would show up. The meets aren't nearly as fun on the weekdays because you can't or don't really want to hang out till 1 or 2 in the morning when you have to be up for work the next day. I don't have time to come to weekday meets anyway due to my work schedule and where I work, plus school is starting up again soon so I'll keep going to the Saturday meets exclusively. sybir 12-27-2004, 02:01 PM Obviously there should be no end to the weekly meet. I don't even get off work until 7, and the last thing I want to do is trek across town in the wrong direction, and even then have another long drive home. I know you're trying to figure out something that will work with your schedule, but be prepared for low attendance, as we've tried it before..... SubNub 12-27-2004, 02:39 PM I agree with what you are both saying however some of us work from 8am-5pm and some of us are done with school and have girlfriends/wifes that won't let us stay out until 2am on a Saturday anyway lol. I am not suggesting those of you who live very far away attend a "Roseville Weekly meet" however for those of us who work/live in the Roseville area, and find it difficult to give up a weekend day (and easy to spend some time out on the weekday) I think this type of meet would be great (and I know there are at least two of us ha ha). As far as timing, well we may have to play with it to accomidate those who work "odd" hours. All I know is that when I was living in Orange County for a bit we held a very succesful Monday night meet (TGIM @ TGI Fridays). Sure people only stay till about 11pm or so and that is all I would expect for a weeday meet anyway. I obviously won't be able to make it if it's during a weekday, but thats not really a concern. ;) I just wanted to encourage you guys to at least try it out at least once. If it doesn't work out, its not like you have to make it a regular thing. Just try one meet for now, and if all goes well, try another. The Bay Area has tons of meets, its not like Sacramento can't have a few itself. Good luck. LagnWagn 12-27-2004, 03:42 PM Yeah, our weekly Reno meets are Thursdays, and they've been really successful...Give it a shot. Double Phister 12-27-2004, 04:23 PM I work in roseville and might consider attending. But Thursday is the one night I already do something every week. How about hump day or Monday part II? SubNub 12-27-2004, 04:33 PM I work in roseville and might consider attending. But Thursday is the one night I already do something every week. How about hump day or Monday part II? Well, Wednesday as I posted earlier is "good TV night" lol (Lost, Alias etc etc). I think Monday would work pretty well but it is close to Saturday (for those who can't get enough and come to both, read: Highly Encouraged) so I think Tuesday might be the winner. What do you guys think? Tuesday nights? (that means I have to go home, work out, and then go to the meet but I am down). soggynoodles 12-27-2004, 04:40 PM What do you guys think? Tuesday nights? Life sucks. nachomc 12-27-2004, 05:37 PM True but DirecTiVo kicks more ass. I have two so I get to record 4 shows at once. Life sucks. I'd like to get DirecTiVo but my cable provider is SO cheap that it's worth it to put up with some of it's inadequacies. The Tivo works ok with this cable box, but I'm gonna try to get a different box from the provider if they offer one. But I'm delrailing another thread here sooo.. Tuesday is further from Saturday than Monday so that is better if Wednesday is out. skimonkey30 12-27-2004, 06:17 PM I think I'd only use my TV for PS2 if I couldn't have some form of DVR. But I'm delrailing another thread here sooo.. That is how my TV is being used right now for xbox, dvd, and ps2.......my damn DVR remote broke and they are shipping me a new one god only knows when it might get here! :( SubNub 12-28-2004, 10:19 AM Great that you all have Tivo! I don't subscribe to a large enough cable package (read: $10 local stations) to make it worth while. So, anyway back to the topic at hand. Looks like Oaf is interested. And if everyone really wants Wednesdays I guess I can deal but I want to gauge tuesdays because it seems like a dead night. RussA 12-28-2004, 10:25 AM I am fine with Tuesdays, they would prolly work best for me... but not tonight, I need to drop off my stock cat-back to myself ;), well to the next letter of myself I should say ;) Double Phister 12-28-2004, 12:15 PM How about you start a poll and let that decide. No, just kidding. I think we should either start it next week or try to give two weeks notice so we get a good turn out for the first meet and convince people to continue it! Sometimes we go to Dos Coyotes up in Folsom, sometimes we hit a place off Olson.
