Night before signing on 05 STI, Cooper S owner

Hey guys
First post here, I've decided to trade my '02 Mini CooperS in. I've loved it for the most part, but some of the funkiness has worn thin, the interior, and some of the showboat details. I must say, I've loved the handling of the car, and it runs nice run through the gears, nice and tight.
I've only taken it easy on the STI I tested, only had a sedate crawl with the sales manager, so I don't know what it will do, I do know it's capabilities, and I'm excited about it. I'm a WRC fan, and am excited about a car with this pedigree as my daily.
I am a bit sad though, the mini was a little too chick-ey for me, but still a nice looking and unusual car that handled better than any other car I've had, including a 2K Audi S4. I'm having some serious remorse over this, as I'm going in tomorrow at 9:00 to do the swap. The money difference isn't that great, they're both leased, but as this will be my first Subaru, and a departure from 6 German cars in a row (last Japanese car was a '94 Integra GSR) I'm a little nervous.
So, what I am hoping for are your thoughts about this swap, I'm hoping I won't be disappointed. Thanks again!

cooper vs STi
Mini cooper, even the S model, is a trendy pseudo performance vehicle. Not even the same ballfield. The STi is the real thing. I always encourage customers to push the car on test drives, since it can actually be tough to drive at times (very powerful. very tight suspension). It's a heck of a lot different from an S4 in that respect. If you're looking for a performance car, you made the right choice. If you're buying it because it's the cool thing to do, you may not like it in 6 mos. I'm surprised you got decent trade value on your cooper. Generally dealerships can't give 'em away these days. good negotiating.

Thanks for the reply LUvikes29, wasn't hard to negotiate, lease was up
I'm not interested in the car because just because it's cool, I've always loved the "specials" you can get over the counter, like the Mazda 323GTX awd ralleye car, Renault R5, 911 RS, etc. If I could still get a Lancia homologation car, I'd have one
I think I'll enjoy this car quite a bit. Thanks again,
DMA

Well, I've got to comment, this car is the best! I finally got to actually *drive* it, and wow, what a supercar! Nothing like the mini, what a snarl and snap this thing has.
Sadly, drove it to the tire shop for some winter tires, so I'll have to experiment with the Hankook Icebears to see where they let go, and wait until the summer to experience the Bridgestones.
My quick summary, as a comparison to the mini cooper s:
1) Ride is not as jouncy as the cooper S with 17 run flats
2) more stable than the mini
3) slightly more power (lol)
4) the stock summer Bridgestones have more noise than the Pirelli Euphorias on the mini, but the hankook WM300's for the winter are quieter.
Wow, what a car!
