'Anti-Fascism' is the New Fascism

This is an article by the British moderate-Democrat, Aidan Rankin, give it a read and tell me what you think.

Hmmm... dont know much about this guy but it is a well-written dialogue on this subject.

I completely agree with his remarks about some white people essentially extending racist views towards their less educated counter-parts. Admittedly, I find myself calling poor whites "trailer-trash", but I would never dream of using the same type of slur against a poor black person.

Good read man

just an example, but something i've thought for a long time, and is along the same lines...

who is worse: a homophobe, or the person who tells them they can't have those feelings towards homosexuals?

IMHO, they're just as bad.

Homophobia breeds hatred and prejudice towards people based on their sexual orientation. They are still people. End of story.

I have yet to see a documented case of what you are talking about. On the other hand how many gay people have been persecuted for being who they are. How many have been the victims of hate crimes? I haven't heard of anyone beating and killing a member of the religious right for their beliefs. Bring some proof.

there's a difference between hatred and prejudice; and actual physical violence and hate crimes. i'm not debating you on that topic.

something i picked up in college is to look at a scenario in a manner of "other things being equal". example... person A steals a car to sell and feed his family. person B steals a car to sell and buy drugs. is person A any better than person B? if you look at their motives, A has a better motive than B. but if you look at it with other things being equal, they're both thieves.

here's what i'm trying to say... lets call person A the person who things same sex relationships are wrong, and person B the individual who thinks it is wrong feel that way. you are correct, person B has better motives, he is looking out for the rights of homosexuals. if you look at it with other things being equal, they are both intolerant of somebody else's opinions and beliefs.

So by that analogy the people who thought slavery was wrong back in the day were just as bad as the people who perpetrated the act of slavery or thought slavery was ok, because those were their "opinions" and "beliefs" Do you see where this is going?

I'm sorry but I don't see discrimination as a "belief" or "opinion" It is discrimination, and that is the end of the line.
