I would love to enjoy helping out both types of cars. Cuz that is what this is all about. Helping each other out. Imprezer 11-21-2002, 12:31 PM We love 'em both. ;) - Alex GTKrockeTT 11-21-2002, 02:21 PM it's all about the legacy. all you impreza drivers suck! :D ImprezaRSDriver 11-21-2002, 03:44 PM Originally posted by GTKrockeTT it's all about the legacy. all you impreza drivers suck! :D I have one of those too. Now I am really confused as to where to be. :P eastbaysubaru 11-21-2002, 03:44 PM Word! Goooo Legacy! -Brian (who's g/f has a '00 RS) N/A 11-21-2002, 03:54 PM I'm wondering when somebody with some real spare cash and time will step up and build a twin engine 1.8L turbo project car. Daios 11-21-2002, 04:19 PM Originally posted by ImprezaRSDriver I have one of those too. N/A 11-21-2002, 04:37 PM G means an Impreza from the previous generation C means a 4dr 8 means a EJ20 So GC8 is a EJ20 Impreza 4dr A GM6 is a Impreza previous generation in a 2dr with a EJ25 GD means an Impreza in the new generation and yet its 4drs. N/A 11-21-2002, 04:38 PM Oh yeah and GF means its a previous gen Impreza wagon. imprezton 11-21-2002, 04:39 PM Thanks. Not sure where that puts my '02 OBS, but that clears some stuff up :) N/A 11-21-2002, 04:45 PM No idea on the OBS. Sorry. In fact I've never even ridden in one let alone work on one. I tinkered with an 97 STI last night though. My GTI-R would of destroyed that thing. Imprezinator 11-21-2002, 04:59 PM Agreed.. Lets just keep it simple nad forget grudge matches Eric Kevin M 11-21-2002, 06:27 PM I have only seen vendors refer to the '01 and older cars as GC8. According to the explanatory posts above, I have a GM6. And what is the difference between GDB/GDA? Sedan/wagon? Jaxx 11-21-2002, 07:26 PM as a whole the parts for the entire gc and gf series are inter changeable .... many fo those parts are interchangagle with the gda/gga gdb =sti .. so even stiffer chassis and differnt motor tranny .. and lots of other "small" things FWIW i have both a GDA and a GC2 soon to be a GC8 ImprezaRSDriver 11-21-2002, 07:49 PM Okay here is how it goes G = Impreza Model Line C = Previous Generation Sedan M = Previous Gerneration Coupe F = Previous Generation Wagon D = New Age Sedan G = New Age Wagon 6 = EJ25 N/A 8 = EJ20 Turbo (Obviously) A = EJ20 without AVCS (I believe) B = EJ20 with AVCS (I believe) Please correct me if I am wrong. So basically here are all the combinations possible: GC6, GM6, GC8, GM8, GF8, GDA, GDB, GGA, GGB I know I have probably missed some, but that is what it breaks down too. Kevin M 11-21-2002, 07:59 PM Duh. Manufacturers put the model in the VIN. It should come just past the "J". I have a GM6. How bout the rest of you guys? Any more confusion? steppin16 11-21-2002, 08:53 PM huh... how come I have never herd it called gm6? all I have ever herd was gc8... wait.. gc8 is the old body style but in europe with the turbo I bet and we picked it up as a term for out car nomadtw 11-21-2002, 09:20 PM well the question was posed about the obs i have a 2.2l obs 1997 it is GF4 so being an imp wagon, it's a gf, and the 4... possibly the 2.2l or is it just obs anyone have a 2.2l L wagon? reconrex 11-21-2002, 10:13 PM I have a 96 Legacy Outback wagon with a 2.2L and a 02 WRX. ImprezaRSDriver 11-21-2002, 10:25 PM nomadtw, You are right the 4 does stand for the 2.2L engines. The number at the end of the two letters will always designate the type of engine that is in the car. steppin16, You never heard the term GM6 because the GC8 is what the rest of the world got and we did not. So basically when you buy parts you should be looking for stuff that fits a GC/GM/GF car and not a GC8, technically. Here is a site that will help you decode your Vin and explain it quite well. http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/techdocs/vin/vin.html Midwayman 11-22-2002, 06:20 PM GM6's rule!! Wooot! better than any GD GG. ;) JK..... but GM6's do rule. Especially turbo gm6's Ryouga 11-23-2002, 02:06 AM Originally posted by ImprezaRSDriver You never heard the term GM6 because the GC8 is what the rest of the world got and we did not. Hmm. So the "closest" we came to getting a GC8 was 2000-2001 when we had the GC6, huh? :D |
