Dear I-Club members,

Oaf, Admin and myself want to give back to those sacrificing so much in uniform with a community care package from I-Club. We want to make the troops proud of us but need your help via donation!

As you can see in the original thread (http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73053), the idea is for every participant to send contributions to Paul via paypal at pdebecker@skyq.com -or- snail mail contribution (PM Paul for address). Any amount from $1 to beyond will be appreciated and recorded accordingly... Paul will scan dated receipts and take pictures of products just to give you a sense or security that your funds aren’t being abused.

If you have any particular/unique requests on what to send you can ask Paul and myself if it’s allowed with an APO address, then request Paul make the necessary purchase of the item if willing.

Here’s a URL that explains the basics on what you can send (no alcohol, pornography, weapons etc.): http://www.operationmilitarypride.org/packages.html

As for the shipment of the package, we’ve decided that October 15th will be the final day pending insignificant participation. If participation is above average then we’ll ship the package on October 29th (let’s hope it boils down to that date). Alex is also sending a number of I-club decals for pictures of a military vehicles sporting the logo. :p

Who’s the recipient of the package? The highspeed, low-drag soldiers from the 5th Special Forces Groups (Airborne) including their intelligence & support counterpart. I have a personal contact with the unit that’s looking forward to I-Club’s support. As a respectable officer of the unit, he’s guaranteed me proper dispersing of the goods from the lowest ranking enlisted to the saltiest team operators..

He also promised I-Club some type of interesting reciprocation from the fellas. ;)

Thanks in advance for you support and participation! :D

I haven't donated anything yet but this thread got me thinking. I was sitting in traffic and I was stuck behind one of those cars that was covered in ribbon magnets and 9/11 stickers and it was making me mad. I look over and at least 60% of the cars around me had something like that on them. What a waste of money. All those people had a noble thought but that money is just going into someone elses pocket instead of going where it could be really used. Anyways I was on my to my PoliSci class which has like 200 people in it. When I got there I asked the teacher if I could say something and he let me talk about doing something for the troops instead of just sticking a magnet on your trunk lid. Imagine if you had the 5-10 bucks from each one of those people with a magnet. So I told the class that if anyone wanted to do more to just let me know. I've only had a couple of people come to me so far but I hope more will come.

Long story short, if you have the ability I feel that you should put the word out in your sphere of influence so we can do even more.

Im sure many of us subscribe to magazines such as R&T, SI, etc... What if we collected some recent back issues and sent that as well? I would think magazines would be pretty dope.

Magazines would be nice but they get very heavy when you're shipping a lot of them.

I'd rather send them a handful of different magazines they can share rather than pay for shipping of all that paper weight.

But I digress.

1. Apparently, paypal was experiencing technical difficulties, so I wasn't able to transfer funds around. Will try later this evening/tomarrow morning.

2. Alex pm'd me saying stickers are inbound.

3. Costco trip is planned Thursday or Friday for remainder of items.

Can people still get in on this care package thing or is it all done? I just saw the thread and want to put some $$ down if it is still possible. I also heard that velveta mac & cheese is the popular over there cuz there is no need for milk, butter etc. Lemme know

Sure...there's still time...I'm shipping tomarrow!

The first package has a arrived and the soldiers are ecstatic!

Charlie took charge of the tobacco products seeing how he doesn't smoke/dip but handed out the other goodies accordingly.

He still hasn't received the package with the flag but I told him it'll be at his destination withing 1-3days. Waiting on the first batch of pictures now. :D

D@mn, that was fast!
Assuming the other boxes take the same time, 3 days sounds about right.
Can you find out if there was any "shipping" damage; condition of box, cookies reduced to dust, etc?
Just so I can critique/improve my packaging methods.

My contact has ALL the boxes but is waiting for the weather to clear in Iraq before he takes pictures. He said he'll take pictures as soon as it clears up. :)

Here's a taste of the photo's...

He couldn't directly stick them onto some of the vehicles because the commander just so happened to be in the motor pool when he had time to take the photos. Nonethless, they're still pretty cool.

He told me he was going to try to take some photo's without the white backing when he can.

Man, I'm very happy that all of us could make this happen.
I'd love to see a sticker on an Apache or an M1A1!!

Yeah great work everyone. If they get a pic of a sticker on a fighting vehicle like that then that would be my new desktop!

Side note: In Michigan the govenor and a local radio station teamed up and have a project going to collect money for michigan soldiers to send them things like PS2's and Games and whatnot. They have collected over 50,000 bucks so far with the radio station morning guys giving 10,000 out of their cd sales fund! Great guys! You can listen live on the net 6am-10am EST www.wrif.com

I'm still waiting on the pictures of Paul's flag seeing how they're flying it as we speak on Veteran's Day. What an honor that must be for you and your son!

I am also waiting on a few better pictures so I can attach them for an I-Club write-up.

Here's a closeup canopy shot of the front of an old Iraqi Mig
