Lets get the FAQ started.

Just post question and answer.

Anything related to Subaru and i-Club.

We are starting from scratch, so even the smallest question counts.

Lets go, lets go...

maybe faq should be in caps...i opened this thinking "what's a *** generator?"

why does my browser forward me to www.nasdfpiojsfejngr.com instead of i-club?

i have no idea what the answer is and this will probably be a FAQ for a while.

i Had to type i-club.com as opposed to www.i-club.com to get to this site. Dont know why, but when I removed the www it worked fine.

Hope that helped

Q. How does my Junior Rating change?

A. 30 posts = Member
100 posts = Senior Member
??? posts = ???

EDIT---Post must be in the forums that count, OT does not, I don't know what other forums may not count also.

Q. How do I get a title?

A. I don't know, and I want one also, so get in line

Q. My pic won't attach

A. Make sure it is on YOUR hard drive, a gif, jpg, jpeg image and less than 102,400 bytes. Use the browse button and attach it.

Q. People said I "double posted"

A. Hit the reply button once and only once. If it takes a long time to post, try this. Open a seperate browser window, go to the forum and thread you are trying to post in. Check to see if your reply made it there. If it did, close original window that is still trying to post it.

My addition:

Q: What does the "i" stand for in i-club?
A: Impreza. This board is mainly a Subaru Impreza enthusiasts' site. That is not to say that others are not welcome!

Q: Did you hear the STi is coming?
A: Yes. We have heard. Many times. Please keep your speculations to yourself until the official announcement is made.

Q: Can I be a moderator?
A: Similar to buying a Rolls: if you have to ask, the answer is no.

Q: What is nasioc? It sounds like some sort of disease...
A: Nasioc is a board similar in intention to the i-Club, but different in execution. I-club and nasioc parted ways due to this.

Q: Can I do _____ to my car even though its never been done before on a Subaru?
A: Anything can be accomplished with enough money.

Q: Is crossposting allowed?
A: Only to an extent. If one posts in a regional forum to make its members aware of another post, this is allowed. If one posts in General to make all members aware of a post elsewhere, this is not allowed. Legality will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Q: This board suxors my coxor, can I troll?
A: Feel free to troll, but you will be banished to Troll Hall and/or the Dumpster.

Q: I heard that the owner of this site is KGB. Is this true? Should I be afraid?
A: I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. You should not be afraid unless you intend to perform some form of espionage, or otherwise endanger the well-being of the members of this community.

:D

Um... yeah :). I'd really rather not have the entire acronym list I assembled just show up on another site without someone even asking me first. I mean, I know I can't claim credit for coming up with every acronym in that list, but it would be a cursory courtesy to at least ask if I didn't mind being taken and used elsewhere- the people who contributed to that list okayed me putting that list up, not me and everyone who wants to use it. To be anally technical, it's copyright infrigement. AWDball, I can see that credit was given, but it's kind of like me taking your car and telling you I was borrowing it after the fact (except in this case, I stumbled upon your borrowing of the car when I found you driving it in an intersection ;) ).

Don't worry about this. I am not going to duplicate anything. There is no point of re-doing what is done.

GDB = Chassis code for New Age STi Sedan
GF8 = Chassis code for Old School Impreza Wagon
GGA = Chassis code for New Age WRX Wagon
GGB = Chassis code for New Age STi Wagon

This is only partially correct.

GC8= world market WRX 4 door sedan or RS sedan with an EJ20 swap would technically be one. 'G' means Impreza chassis. 'C' means 4 door. '8' stands for EJ20 engine.

Therefore, a 2 door 2001 RS is a GM6. 'M'=coupe, '6'=EJ25.

GM*=coupe Impreza
GC*=sedan Impreza
GF*=wagon Impreza

G*8=Impreza w/ EJ20
G*6=Impreza w/EJ25
G*4=Impreza w/EJ22 (not 22b)
G*2=Impreza w/EJ18 liter

New style:
GD*= Impreza sedan
GG*= Impreza wagon

G*A= EJ20
GDB= EJ20 STi (no GGB, since there is no STi wagon)
G*6= EJ25

STi does not get a chassis code modifier prior to the '04 model year. The differences between a previous world market WRX and STi come down to individual parts.* They come off the same assembly lines.

* Until 2001, with the introduction of the new body style, all EJ20s were pretty jammy. Same basics in the 'base' WRX motor as in the STI and even STi RA motors. Translation- they all made the same power with similar mods. STi owners didn't like that. So they complained. And Subaru listened. Now, the EJ20 in a WRX, the EJ205, isn't a whole lot better (though it still is) than a turbo EJ25. The STi motor, the EJ207, is pretty kickass. And even better than that, is the old EJ20G, which was the version 2-5 (I think) motor. Those motors would easily make 320 horsepower. Out of 2 liters. Wow.

what is the difference between the regular legacy's and the outbacks....i can't even find a price difference. I remember when outback was just a trim level, but now it's a whole model that is identical to the legacy (and the impreza in one case). Can anyone tell me the differences or what the outback model is targeted for? thanks

Kevin M
07-27-2003, 07:24 PM
'Outback' refers to the wagon/hatchback model of an Impreza or Legacy. Impreza wagons were usually called Outback Sports (or OBS) until the introduction of the US WRX. Then it was WRX wagon or Impreza TS depending on engine. There are still Outback Sports, but they are very rare.

Now somebody did. Much obliged.:p

Wow.

Is the chassis code anyway related to the VIN?
My USDM 05 STi lists GD7 in the VIN (digits 4-7).
G = Car line/Impreza
D = Body Type/4 Door Sedan
7 = Grade/WRX-STi
So is GD7 my cars chassis code or not?

There is some duplicated information in the VIN (GD, etc), but the real chasis codes is labeled "Applied Chasis Code" on the information plate under your hood.

I don't know if they changed the code for 05 or not, but I believe the applied chasis code for the 05 is still GDB.

Can someone explain this any better to me? I'm still confused?!?!

Offset = The distance between a wheel's mounting surface and its horizontal center

You are correct sir. Here is a diagram to help show whats going on.

Wow thanks! your rock! Question 2.....What are the advantages and disadvantages of +/- offset, if there are any?

Nick Koan
10-21-2004, 08:31 AM
I wouldn't really say that there are advantages. For a specific car, you will need rims of a very specific offset, and if you vary too much, you can cause extra strain on your hubs and stuff (yeah, how's that for a technical answer).

How much offset you require is based on the car you drive, and how wide the wheel is. I don't know exact numbers off the top of my head (ask in the Tires and Wheels forum for a better answer) but, most Subaru's want 48ish to 55ish, depending on how wide the wheel is.

Yeah, then you have a GDF.

G = Car line/Impreza
D = Body Type/Sedan (specifically Bugeyes and new generation, not first gen Imprezas)
F = Grade/WRX-STi (is it F for '04 and '05 STi? I'll try and find the answer tonight)

Yeah, both the '04 and '05 STi are GDF.

GDB is for the EDM and JDM STi (2.0L motor) and GDF is for the USDM STi (with the 2.5L).

Ok here I go again. What size steering rack bushings fit my 00rs? 25 or 30mm? Nobody seems to know. I'm looking at them on Kastle's Korner. Throw down some wisdom on me:)

Also whats the stock whp on a rs/wrx/sti? I swear I couldn't find this through searching the forums:(

Way late answer, but here it goes. I don't know about steering rack bushings off the top of my head, sorry :(

RS: ~115whp to ~125whp depending on dyno
WRX: ~155whp to ~175whp depending on dyno
STi: ~215whp to ~235whp depending on dyno

What years would those be referring to? I always wonder why a 05 RS would put down, probably those same #'s..

And above me, a great site to buy stuff OEM from :) If they like to ship over here.

Yeah. I think the engine is rated 2-5 hp more in '05, but that won't really make a difference on a dyno. You can get 2-5whp slop between runs easily.

GD*= Impreza sedan
GG*= Impreza wagon

G*A= EJ20
GDB= EJ20 STi (no GGB, since there is no STi wagon)
G*6= EJ25I always come back to this post because I can never remember what my 2.5 RS is. GC6.

I'm quoting, though, because I thought there was an STi wagon. I don't have any real indication there is except for the model (http://pics.gpatmac.com/Sony_DSC/Model/Model.on.Car.Cover.jpg) I have, and because of assorted websites I've come across...a while ago, so I can't cite any.:)
