Just recently, my stereo will not turn off when the car is turned off. I tore apart my dash looking for crossed wires somewhere... nothing. The only thing that gets power is the head unit. The 12V line stays live for some reason, any one else ever have a problem like this? i don't want to have to install a toggle, or remove my nice head unit... but it glows bright blue... a beacon beconing for someone to steal it...

are you sure you tapped into the ignition wire?

you said, "just recently"....so did that mean that this problem started occuring after many months with this setup?

tap into another remote lead, like the cigarette lighter.

yes, it has been setup for about 9 months this way, then just this past sunday i was sitting outside smoking a cigarette, and my antenna rose up from my trunk, and my stereo started booming. scared the crap outta me. I haven't even bothered to check my cigarette lighter, good idea if it's not staying live... maybe keep it live then. Thanks

Interesting...

I just put my older (99ish) Blaupunkt HU into my 2000 Legacy (to replace the tape deck), and now after I turn the car off, it remains on for about 5-10 seconds, then shuts off. The stocker never did this, and the Blau didn't do it in my old car. Weird. Ghosts in the machine!
