usdm sti seats should fit, but you'll most likely lose the fold-down, not to mention the fact that the sti seats are just pieces of foam and have no internal structure. They are supported entirely by the frame that is formed behind the seats on the sedan, which is absent in wagon, so you might have issues with people falling into the trunk since there is no more metal crossmember right behind their shoulders for the seats to lean on

related question: how about new age (02-04) wgaon rear seats fitting in the older gen. impreza wagons (98-01)? Whaddya think?

...I wish I had the ability to find out... Could someone with access to both models please look to see if the brackets/bolts are in the same place?

Thanks...

Solution: weld the rear doors shut and have the seats there just for the bling

yes the seatback portion is flat in the back. In the sedan this is supported a little by a plate that goes between the trunk and the seat. That is actually the back portion of the trunk, so if you take that off you can see the foam.

In that case i will fabricate my sub box / amp mounts in a way that would also double function as the rear seat suport to take care of the problem.

Sorry but i am an architect who is full of crazy ideas.

[irish accent] Brilliant! [\irish accent] :)

If I may suggest... (if you haven't already) consider attaching the seat cushions to the box/amp mounts and make the entire unit removable, then you can still use the cargo space if you need it. After all, why did you get a wagon in the first place? :D

I just realized that this would make it easy to steal, but it sounds like you could cook up a scheme to get around that problem. (like hidden, but easily accessible bolts/brackets to mount/dismount with ease)

Good luck if you go through with this... If you come up with a design, explain it or post a drawing on this thread and I bet you'd get a few good comments/suggestions that might be useful before you actually build it.
