this has always been a question in my mind. i know that the JDM seats hav the adjustment on the wrong side and i've heard about some JDM seats being higher, but the main question is since the new STi is coming are there going to be "factory replacement" STi seats that i could buy and then get new rails for an RS? any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Well, WRX seats fit into the the RS but the problem with the WRX seats is that they sit too high in the RS. If you are a taller than 6 feet, then you will have head clearance issues.

yeah i saw the height thing sumwhere, but i'm 5'10" so its all good.
