If I get a new WRX from the dealer...

My understanding of that problem is that the repair was very minor, a couple of minutes at a dealer according to other posts. I'm sure that whatever fix needed to be done would be taken care of by the dealer prior to sending the car out... but to be sure, you could just ask the dealer if it applied to your car and whether or not it had been taken care of....
The fix was a small clip that goes over the cable. It takes less than 5 minutes. It was so easy to fix that I bet they could send out the clip with instructions to people affected and even the most car-illiterate soccer mom could probably do it. When there's a recall, wouldn't you think that the dealership would fix their own cars too, and not just customers? Plus, it only affected the older models.

most times a new vehicle that's sitting on the lot has a recall against it, the dealerships will take care of it before you take delivery. My car was delayed due to a small recall for automatic tranny's. SOA gave me $200 in american express gift cards for my wait.
