Okay, in another are I posted a thread about swapping in motor into my 95L coupe with a 1.8 and 5-speed. Long story short, just found out about the 91-94 Legacy with a Turbo 2.2. Now I want to know everything possible about swapping this engine. I'll be doing the work myself, so let me know about the wiring harness, ECU, transmission, turbo crossmember, etc. What do I need to do a full swap? Could I find one of these cars fro under $1500 with decent mileage, if it has ****ty mileage can I find a good rebuild kit? Help me out, I live in Colorado and the 1.8 just isn't enough in the mountains. Thanks

you should be able to get away with puting your intake manifold on the 2.2 and get engine management for the 1.8 ecu so you dont have to rewire but you will need the engine crossmember and turbo piping of you choice because you can use wrx pieces all the turbo water and oil lines as for the trany build up you 5spd or get a 6spd because it will be very hard to find a legacy turbo with a 5spd in it and if it does it could be the same the one you are taking out(i have not heard much of the 5spds in the turbo legacy and dont even know if they came with it from factory)

i think he wants to buy a legacy turbo and wants to know what is needed to put that motor in his impreza

but if the turbo legacy is in good shape why bother swaping the weight and strength difference cant be that big between the legacy and the impreza for the year

i am looking at getting a cut harness motor and i was looking for a good way around buying a stand alone to run it because i cant find a turbo ecu thats obd1 and if i did it would be difficult to wire in and the best answer i could find was to use a stand alone because even if you use a piggy back you can only make so much of a correction and the turbo legacy motor has 440cc injectors where your 1.8 injectors are 180cc which is less than half the size of the turbo motor's so you will run rich at idle

in short if you can get the ecu do it and if you can get the wiring harness do it because it makes the job easier to install but if you cant find a ecu you almost have to go stand alone or get extra injectors and a controler either way it is expense

you can get what you need for a stand alone from SDS for 1350 and that includes a wideband senser and afr guage

yah i've heard good things about it and its easy to tune
if you can find a turbo legacy ecu or a jdm ecu that would be cheaper but only if you can find a wiring diagram:)
