Should I buy an aftermarket wastegate?

What are the benifits of having an aftermarket wastegate? I have a VF34, Dp, Up pipe, STi Injectors, Walbro Fuel pump, UTEC, Turbo XS Intake, and a Perrin turbo inlet hose. Would me buying an aftermarket wastegate give me more power or less? I heard a WRX a while ago that had an Aftermarket one and it sounded bad ***. Let me now what you think. If I should get one which one is good?

i dont think you need an aftermarket wastegate unless you're spiking way too much.

External wastegates aren't too common, are you talking about aftermarket blowoff valves instead?

no not a bov a wastegate, i heard some guys and it sounded REALLY mean. It was at Sac raceway a couple years ago, it was a blue sedan and he stayed at the same hotel that I did and a bunch of buddies and I were talking to him about his car and he said it was the wastegate that was making the sound.

you can weld out your internal wastegate so it isn't functional and add an external wastegate. i believe aps has a setup with an external wastegate

however, i dont think you need an external wastegate with your setup

another way to get that sound out of your stock turbo is to have a divider placed between the wastegate and turbine outlet of your turboexhaust housing. Then get a flat flanged downpipe (the HKS one is perfect and cheap) and weld on a ~1-1/4" dump tube to send wastegate gasses out to atmosphere.
