First, i apologize for lacking what may seem as basic knowledge. All the turbo cars i've dealt with have been either nissan or honda, so the turbo placement is really close to the exhaust ports, and normally have a very short turbo manifold.
I was talking to a subaru owner once, and he said he had just bought a new header. I thought that was odd, since he told me he had planned on going turbo. He then said you can still run a turbo on a normal header. I was shocked by this.
Am i right to assume that you could attach a turbo to stock set of header? Or do you need an adapter? Or is that what an uppipe does?

NA headers have different collectors. Turbo headers have one with a flange at the collector(or right beneath it) to bolt on the turbine. Different animals all together. :banana:

 

Plenty of ppl have used Borla headers on their turbo'd Imprezas, since they end in the stock location, they line up just fine. A TWE header would also work for the same reason. I've read that boost comes at a lower RPM with the stockers on so you have to compromise somewhere.
