What's the ALK supposed to do anyhow? And what, mind you, is it?

I've heard it lowers your track times but I dunno how.

How hard is it to install?

ALK changes the mounting angle of the front suspension arms. The mount point at the rear of the arms is lowered a couple centimeters. The result is about 0.5 degrees more positive caster coupled with a little more dive on braking and a little less lift on throttle.

The track time improvement comes from a combination of the improved turn in from the extra caster and the improved exit speed from additional front traction on exit of the turn (less lift = more weight on the front = more traction for the front wheels)

Installation is moderate. There are some pretty hefty bolts down there (one with a very high torque spec) and on the 02+ models you have to add spacers to all the bolts for the subframe.
