I did the drive today that consisted of taking the G20 to the G16 to 101 S to the G14 to Nacimiento Ferguson Road and finally back up the 1. Here are the details:

I stopped and played in some dirt for about a half hour so not quite sure of the "to the minute" time.

Around 185 miles

Drive Date:
March 6
So as not to interfere with the "Gettin Dirty" event being held at Hollister Hills SVRA

We are going to meet at the Super K-Mart located on the corner of Canyon Del Ray and Del Monte in the city of Seaside. I will be there at 11:00 and we will leave promptly at 12:00. I will park my car on the row facing Canyon Del Ray - I have a stock 2004 WRB WRX with Texas plates. There is a gas station and a McDonald's in the parking lot so you can feed yourself and your car all at the same time.


Here are directions to get to the meeting place:
1. From Highway 1 take exit #403. (If you are coming south on Highway 1, the first sign says the exit is for Del Rey Oaks, Seaside, and Laguna Seca. The second sign only states Del Rey Oaks and Seaside)
2. Take a left under the overpass and you will see Big K-Mart on your left. Take a left at the stop light to get into the parking lot.

There really isn't a good place to stop and have lunch unless we want to drive another few miles down 101 and hit up a McDonald's or something in King City. As far as just hanging out and taking pictures, we could stop once we get into Fort Hunter Liggett, other than that the best places for pictures are gonna be on the 1 and a few turnouts at the top of Nacimiento-Ferguson Road.

Be prepared for some pretty intense and technical driving while we are on the G16 and Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd. The 1 and the G14 are going to play the scenic part of the drive.

In order to get onto Fort Hunter Liggett you are going to need to have a valid Driver's License, Registration, and Insurance with you. The gate guards aren't going to know what is legal or not on your car so don't be afraid about getting tickets. They were really cool to me when I was there. Also, you can't speed while we are passing through the Fort, you won't want to pay for the ticket. Just keep this in mind. Once we are off the Fort, the road gets really technical, and it's going to be hard for you to speed anyways ;-)

So that is pretty much the plan. We are leaving at 12:00 so that no one (atleast most people) won't have to wake up at the butt crack of dawn to make it down here. I like sleeping in on my weekend anyways. We won't have to stop for gas or food, just pictures, so that eliminates another hassle. This was an awesome drive, and I am really looking forward to doing it again. So I guess the only question is......

It's only like a 1.5 to 2 hour drive from San Francisco to Monterey, which isn't very long. But then again I just got back from a 12/5 hour drive from Utah ;-)

Also, just a suggestion. On the Feb 8 drive, we all got kinda carried away and got going too fast. There were two casualties, myself being one of them. But maybe who ever is leading, im assuming it will be you Kindersplus, maybe you souldnt go completely balls out. We had about 14 cars all trying to stay together and go as fast as possible and it is just a recipe for bad things. I dont mean at all to slow down to where we are just kinda driving around...but lets not test every car's limits.

Oh yeah, im gonna beat u to it Jason, u ass...i know ur gonna give me **** for saying that too...lol But u didnt do a complete 360 a month ago while taking out a road marker, bending a rim, and messing up ur front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, exhaust, drivers side door, and mirror.

Casualties?....................Someone died on the drive or do you mean just the cars got banged up?

2 cars got into accidents. no human deaths.

I agree w/ you 100% about the not going balls out... better to go on a nice slower pace and enjoy the sights. I hope we can stop a few times to take scenic pics.

Alright man, hope to see you there. Also, this next Sunday, the 14th, up here in Novato, Adam(McGyver) is having his grand opening for LIC Motorsports, BBQ, maybe a drive, all kinds a stuff. Should be fun!

I have already determined a few spots along the route to stop so that we can all be together for the majority of the drive, and verify that everyone is still operational. However, I would recommend that while we are going through the twisties we keep atleast 50 yards between each car. The turns on the roads we will be driving on are unmarked and a few of them kind of jump out of nowhere.

But yes, I plan on leading and not exceeding the speed limit, seeing as it is quite difficult to even maintain the speed limits on the roads we will be on. ;-)

I know, im just giving u shiet before u could give me some...;) And yeah, im taking my car into Bianco Subaru tomorrow morning and they are gonna check out the entire car, make sure everything is looking good and figure out whether the problem is just a plug or wire(i really really hope it is, at this point, i cant afford too much more to fix the car...:( ) And I got my new rim on this morning, so brand new set of tires on perfectly straight rims...damn it feels good after driving on a bent rim for 2 weeks.

Yeah all I need is to mess up my car, so the speed limit sounds good. This is my first "drive" so I am going to take it easy so I don't kill any poor little squirrels, LOL Patrick.

oops nevermind :) i was looking at the getting dirty thread so i got confused with it. this is gonna be a blast!!!

I made a map with instructions to hand out to everyone that shows up. I have 20 copies, and I hope that will be enough. We will see in the morning though. Remember that I will be at the meeting area, K-mart, from 1100 to 1200 and that we are going to leave promptly at 1200. Also, in case I forget someone please remind me to give a rundown of the places that we are going to stop at to take pictures as well as to join the group back up together, road conditions, what to watch out for, etc. I plan on stopping at a few major intersections to make sure that we are all going the right way. Can't wait to see you guys tomorrow. It's gonna be a blast!
