I think Joey has proven himself as one of the top Suby drivers in the autox arena. I would like to see him drive one the way he drove his RS. I've been to one track day...I'm sure the STIs feel better than they look! I was impressed by San in his WRX, though! :D b_drift 01-09-2004, 03:43 PM hey russ, don't forget joey and fran both got to abuse...i mean drive dave's boosted Sti back in september? i kinda remember that event because my times weren't jiving correctly. b russ 01-09-2004, 03:58 PM Hehe! Yeah Barry, I vaguely remember that... I want to see Joey after about 3 or 4 races...when he has had a chance to "dial in" the car as his new "Ditch-*****"! Muaaahaahaahaa! :D Then MAYBE an STI will beat me & my lowly WRX... Mach5WRX 01-09-2004, 03:59 PM Originally posted by russ Sorry Dan, I meant SCCA races. I think Joey has proven himself as one of the top Suby drivers in the autox arena. I agree with you 100% I thought that may have been a stab at STi owners that don't auto-x as much as they should. I thought I was going to have to bring my big guns out.....well.....................I'll give you a little taste any way. "Auto-X = maybe peak 60mph for maybe 1 minute. Trackdays = at lest peak 120mph for 10 or more minutes. Both are fun as hell, both require a great amount of skill, but one has much less room for mistakes." russ 01-09-2004, 04:08 PM Originally posted by Mach5WRX I agree with you 100% I thought that may have been a stab at STi owners that don't auto-x as much as they should. Dan my friend, you can put away your "big guns"! I would never compare autox to track days! I don't do track days because I AM AFRAID! Ok? Two totally different events with possibly two very different kinds of participants. I really don't care what anybody does...but, as my last post said, if anyone drives an STI at autox, I WILL be watching! :D If that sounds like a challenge...well..it is! :p :D b_drift 01-09-2004, 04:41 PM Originally posted by russ Hehe! Muaaahaahaahaa! :D Then MAYBE an STI will beat me & my lowly WRX... yup. i think joey already did his performance mods to get into SM.......debadge...anything else?? i am gonna jump back to and finish ESP already, get a couple of runs and then maybe jump to SM if a certain mod materializes and puts me there. no track day for me because i don't trust my leadfoot or a car not prepared (safety wise). well, maybe the 240 soon..but i already caught air.. plus my sti's brakes fade at autox. what would happen at a full track.. b russ 01-09-2004, 04:55 PM Cool Barry! Now I gotta sweat it next race! haha! Oh well...it'll be fun! Just don't beat me in the run-offs, ok? Jeff spoiled my clean sweep last season! :p Ditchhanger 01-09-2004, 08:08 PM Damn....it only has 152 miles on it! I have to driver it a little more! And I think I know what mod you're talking about Barry! ;) WRX_FLIP 01-09-2004, 08:51 PM Originally posted by russ Cool Barry! Now I gotta sweat it next race! haha! Oh well...it'll be fun! Our time differences this year: May : 4.899 Wagon June : 3.997 July : 2.584 ... Nov : .580 Hmm, maybe I should invest in those V700s for ESP next year. :) mehlt 01-09-2004, 09:57 PM I think both events leave little room for mistakes, but track mistakes tend to be more damaging and potentially fatal. They both required extreme focus and help teach driving skills with autox pushing you harder on the car control side whereas track time tends to push you to be consistant in your driving. Both are fun, but I enjoy autox more because it provides a yardstick (timing) to help you determine if you are improving. BTW, what's this mod you guys are talking about? russ 01-09-2004, 11:13 PM Originally posted by mehlt russ, I'm reeling you in. What a difference an STI makes! :) R compounds on an STI sound killer! STIs should take over ESP this year just like WRXs did 2 years ago! Come and get it boys! :D Don't let an old WRX guy on stock suspension stop you...hehehe! I'm only playing! ;) It's funny that on the "overall", we're all chasing a damn Legacy GT! hahaha! Umm...sorry to hijack your thread Joe...and it all started when I complemented your driving skills... :D curbait 01-10-2004, 12:18 AM Alright! did you trade inor sell the rs? You really do deserve that kind of car. This is killing me. Just down the road there is a black STi sitting at the Subaru dealership. I don't dare go for a test drive because I know I'll end up buying it. MY wife already told me that I can do what I want with the WRX, even sell it, but that would be fiscally irresponsible... DAMN I WANT AN STi! ElNino 01-11-2004, 03:32 PM Originally posted by EtchyLives First off, congrats Joey. You really do deserve that kind of car. This is killing me.
