I just moved here from Hawaii and I'm looking to see if what they say is true. Out in Honolulu I was running 14's consistently with a Tanabe cat back and an AEM intake. I've got the AFCR in and I want to see what she's capable of now. (plus, with the air being MUCH colder, I'd like to see what effect that has as well) Is there anywhere I can go? You have to understand one thing. At Hawaii Raceway Park, all you needed was a license, a car, registration, and $6 and you could run all night. No helmet, no courses... nothing else. I can spend the money on the Helmet, but I'm not looking to get involved with the SCCA just yet. I need more time behind the wheel. :)

Oh, btw, I'm in San Diego. I guess that's kinda important right? lol I've got to start thinking in the big world now. No longer am I on a little rock in the middle of the ocean.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I liked the community out on the islands. We set up track days and cruises. Hope it's like that around here.

Peace
Jay

There is Carlsbad International Dragway in Carlsbad. You will need a helmet, drivers liscense, proof of insurance and $25. There is also California Dragway at the California speedway in Fontana. You don't need a helmet unless you are running in the 13's. There are a few more arounf but they are north of LA. They also do 1/8 mile Qualcom Stadium every now and then. SCCA is only really for auto-X not 1/4 mile. Both Carlsbad and California Dragway have web sites. Carlsbad usaully runs on Sat starting around 1pm and Cal Cragway is Sat. and Sun with tech opening about 7am. Hope this helps.

I was begining to wonder if the Subie community out in Hawaii was better then here. :) Thanks for the info. I also think it's kind of odd that someone named Damian would respond. This is due to the fact that I just had a son, Damien, five months ago. Freaky ain't it? lol. I know eventually that I'll get involved with Auto x'ing again. It was a blast. I just want to do more with the car to make it more worth my while. As far as $25 for 16 seconds.... that's more like 14 seconds, and it's for multiple runs. Granted, it was nicer in Hawaii at $6.00 for the night, but the track was complete poop. I can say that on here right? Poop? Who knows. Anyway, thanks again quickgtp. I appreciate the info and look forward to seein ya sometime. I drive a black WRX Wagon with an AEM license plate bracket. The tint's illegal as hell too. ;)
Peace.

Since when has racing your car ever been cost effective. I don't think $20 for less then 3 min. is such a great deal for auto-x either but thats just what it costs.

You mentioned $25 for auto cross. Where at? Once I get my new tires I'd love to do it again. I've worn my stock stuff down to the nubs almost. lol Too much power sliding I guess.

Last night as a matter of fact, I had a Cop tuck in behind me from 2 lanes over. I rolled the windows down, and when he rolled by, he was looking hard. The other thing that's new here is the Decibel level of your exhaust. It has to sound stock. I don't like this very much, but what are you gonna do. I guess I'll put the silencer on it. :(
