Hey guys this is Dan from the RX-7 forums. I'm here to get some interest for a local BBQ and possible cruise meet. Here is what I've come up with so far, everything is just on paper and up in the air, so nothings in stone yet.

Here are some ideas:

- Potluck: Everybody brings something
- Meet at park with bbq pits
- Play some basketball
- Bring the boombox
- Play some frisbee
- Meet new faces
- Usual car chat
- Pics

I'm also thinking of inviting some other local car enthuaists (Supras, Preludes, NSXs) if you guys don't mind.

I haven't thought of a final day/date yet, just wanted to get some feedback. The list of things/food to bring include:

- Burger meat
- Hot dog meat
- Burger buns
- Condiments
- Coolers
- Soda
- Water
- ICE ICE ICE
- Napkins
- Plastic knives, forks
- Chips
- BBQ poker fork
- Plates
- Basketball
- Frisbee
- Charcol
- Charcol fluid
- Cups
- Misc snacks

When the time comes I'll relist the things to bring and then in () put your name next to the item.

I'm just throwing out ideas here. I would like to have the meet around noontime, arrive early to claim the bbq pits, play games, talk, browse around. After food we can go for a drive, depending on where we are.

Another idea is that if you guys are interested we can drop by Treasure Island right before San Francisco and take come pics, enjoy the views and what not. After that we could go get some drinks and call it a day.

So basically this might turn out to be a BBQ/cruise meet if all goes well. I'll also have to post it on other car forums for added participants and interest. If that goes well then I'll set up a day and time then we can go from there.

P.S. Any other ideas, opposing opinions are welcome.

If anyone is interested please post here or the RX-7 forums.

Thanks for listening.

So far I've seen interest from the Supras and MR2s. I'll post it with the bay area Preludes as well.

An update: Supra boys would like to hold the meet somewhere near Sactown or at Sactown so they can reserve a spot with Sac Raceway.

The rotary boys from the East bay (SF, SJ) are not sure about this.

So basically it comes down to East Bay VS. North ....

San Francisco/San Jose VS. Sactown. Either would be fine for me but what about compromising somewhere in between? Vacaville, Fairfield, Vallejo? Isn't Sears Point raceway over around there? Or is it now called Infineon raceway?

ANy ideas?

I don't really want to BBQ & drink beer, then go to a track...but I'm down for BBQ, beer, and basketball.

Myself, I would prefer somewhere closer to the water, cooler.

Hey ru i got your message.

Racing/tracking is all optional and that's what the supra boys wanna do. The other car groups that i've followed up on hasn't expressed a whole lot of interest, maybe it seems like everyone else just wants to eat and chill back or cruise or something.

Final location and date is still not given out yet.

If you guys wanna hang out at a cooler place then I'd suggest golden gate park or somewhere near a marina or something. But it's gotta be close enough for SJ and Sactown peeps that they'll wanna drive to make it fair.

Another suggestion has been offered:

Meet and eat over at Ocean Beach, it's a long stretch along the shores of the beach. They say Golden Gate Park may not be the best on weekends due to lack of parking space. The long ass stretch along the shores of the beach is nice a long for those that wanna...... drive...... fast......

Baker Beach in SF is pretty nice. I wouln't want to go up to Sac. Too damn hot.

More details like date/place needed before i can say i could do it.

how about chicken or veggie items?

I say keep it in the bay area, if the supra guys want to get drunk and go to the drags in sac let them eat cake.

what about berryessa? its like somewhat in the middle and the drive there is hella nice...and if the supra boyz wanna go drag theres infineon over across the sludge from vallejo, only about an hours and a half drive from berryessa i think

No no, drinking and racing is a big no no and nobody is going to do that. Please don't get the wrong ideas about the Supra guys. They're just as down to eat/chill/cruise as much as the rest of us so yeah.

Can't drive over the speed limit safely during the weekends. The long section has pedestrian crosswalks and the posted speed limit is very slow, unlike during the '60s and '70s when the posted limit was 70 m.p.h.!

Ocean Beach is a nice place to meet but if the weather is nice, good luck finding parking for a large group on a weekend.

Okay so then I've told the Supra guys that racing most likely won't be a part of this event. I wanted this meet to be something where I can meet other local drivers and eat and just chill.

Location and date will be posted shortly.

Alright I think a good location for everyone is this big park in Vallejo. It doesn't have bad roads like SF nor is it too far. People coming from SJ/Sactown don't need to drive super far to get to SF if the meet was held there.

The park is called Blue Rocks Springs. They have a very large parking space in case more cars show up.

Let me know if this interests you guys.

Blue Rocks Springs is a bad ass park. You can climb some cool rocks there. There is also a park in Vallejo called Dan Foley and it is right on the lake, directly across from the ski event at Marine World.

Not sure if it's still open - I haven't been there since I used to live in Vallejo 14 years ago :)

ya i was wondering if that park was still open in vallego. It was cool is spent alot of afternoons sitting way up on the hill in the south/east corner. But that was 20 years ago for me. It probably is just a parking lot now for Marine World.

Hey thanks for the heads up about the park. Rock climbing sounds like real fun. Anything else we should know about Blue Rocks Springs?
