Hi, my WRX wagon is up for it's 30,000 mile service and my wife's 99 Legacy wagon is up for 60,000 mile service. Our dealer want's $500 for this for each car.

I guess I have a few questions:

1. What the heck do I get for $500? I'm almost certain I could get the same for less elsewhere and/or do some of it myself.
2. Does my WRX warranty require I get this service through Subaru? I hate to admit it, but my dealer sucked me into an extended service plan - not Subaru's. The Legacy is out of warranty so it doesn't matter here.

Of course I can and will check on all this with the dealer, but I thought I would start here at i-club to see if others had any experience and/or knowledge to help me out here. Thanks in advance!

Well, it seems here is what you get for the $ - lot's of "inspecting" with little mention of fixing anything that is inspected...

Then again, if they do find anything, I am still under the Subaru warranty...

I would suggest doing the 30k services yourself and recording them on my.subaru.com Then wait another month or two for the flyer you should get in the mail with a coupon for a free or discounted "winter inspection" and take it in for that. :p
