I know we have the monthly (during the summer) ssquared meet, which ROCKS, but I was wondering if there was some interest in setting up a weekly get together for whoever is interested in showing. UC has a pretty good group and I'm sure we do too.
I included the option of Krispy Kreme in the poll, but I'm not much a doughnut person (especially while I'm trying to drop weight) and there's not a whole lot to do at KK. I'm thinking maybe we could do one night a week - something cheap (I sure don't have any money ;) ) and there's no requirement to show - just go if ya wanna. So vote on what you think you'd like!

I say something in the elkgrove/laguna area. There are 2 decent movie theaters, ample parks, and tons of local food/shopping areas. All of which are relatively safe in comparison to CClanes. Add to it, that there is direct access from 2 highways (99 & 5).

I hate going to Elk Grove, but I suppose that would work. Laguna is pretty far from me though.
How about downtown?
There are a TON of reasonably priced, very cool places to go and eat down there. Always a lot of decent people, safe parking in the garages (and 99% of the places validate, so you won't pay more than a buck or two to park), it's pretty much in the middle for everyone. I think this could work. I really like s^2, but it is pretty far from a lot of people.

Too bad Old Sacramento is always packed because that would rock. Maybe even a park we could tailgate at that has a decent parking lot like one of these:
im not sure of which out of those but i was thinking that one of garden hwy? what's it called?

If not then the Laguna/Elkgrove area is FINE BY ME. we just need a place to meet w/o hassle etc etc.

Egan on NASIOC made a suggestion of using Natomas Marketplace off I-80. That's easily accessible and also pretty central. There is a ton of stuff in there including In n Out, Steves Pizza, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Quiznos, some mexican place, Applebees and a movie theatre.
Traffic sort of sucks, but I know the way around there pretty well..this would probably be a cool place. Lots of parking and the like.

Traffic does kinda suck but that wouldn't be a bad location because there's places to eat, get gas and so on and it's in the middle of everyone. We'd just have to make sure it wasn't during a basketball game or we'd be F**KED with traffic.

Me and my friends (team Demented) used to hold regular meets at the natomas marketplace. But, eventually it got shut down. Both the local security and police asked us not to meet there. They said that it was interfering with the "normal" shoppers. Its ok with me...just a heads up though. Also, someone said a park would be good. Well, elk grove park, has plenty of free parking space.

Folsom lake is accessable via auburn folsom road, which is off of 50, and also accessable from the I-80 side via douglas. So its kinda inbetween everyone, unless you are in davis... But davis is about the same length of drive for me as elk grove.

+eleventybillion for downtown Sac!
A couple of months ago, I was doing some recon work on finding a new site for a meet. I thought the upper-most level of the parking structure located at 3rd and L Street next to Downtown Plaza (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=3rd+Street+and+L+Street,+Sacramento,+CA&sll=38.581587,-121.502395&sspn=0.013251,0.027637&ie=UTF8&t=k&om=0&z=18&ll=38.580996,-121.502631&spn=0.001656,0.005284) was the perfect spot. It includes all the benefits that sonicsuby presents, PLUS the fact that being 70ft above ground level provides a little privacy from the general public (upper level hotel guests excluded). As an added bonus, if the weather turns ****ty, we can park one level down and be sheltered from the rain.
I like it, I like it a-lought. :D

id avoid public spaces like folsom lake and high traffic areas like bowlings alleys simply for the police presence there. parks get checked at night, and the sheriffs/pd always have cars out in front of bowling alleys. what we need to find is a place like the natomas shopping center thats more central, has easy access from the freeway, and doesnt have mustang kiddies doing donuts in it. the reason the natomas meets worked was that you werent locked in to doing something, theres pizza, chinese mexican, and on and on so you can just kidna go with what everyone feels like...
my personal vote ignores all of my suggestions tho...
Chipotle on sunrise, by the target greatland. big parking lot + chipotle

nvm... i didn't see the "my vote ignores your suggestions though"... still funny
I actually think a bowling alley would be a badass place to meet, rocklin bowl is dirt cheap... plus they just opened up a new bowling alley off of sunset called strikes... i just went there and it's super nice, but costs a little more then rocklin bowl does

the problem with bowling alleys is:
1.) azi3n g4nstaZ
2.) the sheriffs there to watch said "asians"
i was at countryclub last saturday getting eye****ed by two sheriffs as i made my way through the parking lot. just imagine that attention times 20 cars.
the best place would be a place were we can pass outselfs off as customers even if we are in the parkinglot for 2 hrs. a buriito in the hand is worth two in the...? nevermind.
besides one of the best parts of the natomas spot is being able to set off your alaram from the table when the honda kiddies come to lQQk

the truck stop at i80 and West EC has bomb ass food, you just gota deal with crack out truckers sometimes.
theres actually a nice little lot downtown by Ricks diner that never used after 6 or so. its at k and 23rd iirc, its for a store called "Mixed Bag". i used to park there all the time when i would go to truelove for food. the entrance is kinda crappy buy its negotiable.

By average I mean to average the longitude and latitude of each person. Maybe a more saferer idea would be to just use one lon/lat for each city they are in so ed doesn't get his wheels stolen again.
And this won't work but I'm just curious what the output would be.
