View Full Version : Subaru soon to offer 3" cat-back exhaust systems throught selected dealers
Imprezer 07-26-2003, 08:42 PM Accoring to my source, Subaru will soon be offering a 3" stainless steel cat-back exhaust systems for 2002-2004 WRX wagons and sedans. It supposed to add horsepower (w/ remap or not I do not know) and a "performance sound".
The muffler will have an angle-cut tip with engraved SPT logo on it. It will come with limited warranty for those who will have it installed at the dealer.
Pricing is yet to be determined, but it will be in ~$450 range, which is dramatically less than the STi muffler they were offering before.
kit99bar 07-27-2003, 02:25 AM I need to see this to believe it.
Perhaps they are just selling the Greddy catback :D :D :D
Blue02WRX 07-27-2003, 06:57 PM I saw this exhaust on the regular 2004 WRX's with the SPT package. STi wing, big huge SPT sticker on the side, 3'' catback SKUNK 2 exhaust(very nice BTW) and some UNGODLY CHROME 16'' stockers. But the exhaust was like 700 by itself. But it is coming from the dealers like this.

Subhuman posted in General Forums > General about this cat-back system (http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26510) and gave a tentative part number. I plugged it into SubaruParts.com, but it's not valid over-the-counter, yet.
Please keep us posted if you find out when and where we might find this locally.
The SPT/STi muffler they sell now is a poor value for the money, IMO. Even discounted (list retail is over $800), it costs way too much for what is basically an axle back muffler.

Chris04WRX 07-30-2003, 11:55 AM I believe this is it (sorry no pic though):

Leonardo 07-30-2003, 12:26 PM It could be relabeled HKS like the intake they had for the RS. They have (HKS/SOA) worked in the past.

Sounds like the right one. I wish there was a pic... The description doesn't say much about it, either. If someone orders this catback I'd sure like to know how it fits and how it sounds.

Chris04WRX 07-30-2003, 07:29 PM If that is indeed the one, I am extremely interested in putting it on my WRX (still want to see what it looks like though). When I get a chance, I'll be calling my Subaru dealer. :)

pdippel 09-24-2003, 03:30 PM How about this?
Subaru Parts.com (http://www.subaruparts.com/catalog/?section=170)http://www.subaruparts.com/catalog/subaru/sptmuffler.JPG
inski21 09-27-2003, 11:44 AM I'd get a SpT cat back.
Who are these selected dealers? I haven't seen much SPT lately
mikkyo 09-30-2003, 07:17 PM Will it meet the noise requirement for CA though?
BANDIT 10-10-2003, 06:18 PM Yes it is below the 95db. It also will not void your warranty.
SLOtownWRX 10-13-2003, 09:06 PM please keep the information coming guys, interest grows. especially if it will not void the warranty.
John #555 10-31-2003, 11:30 AM any reviews yet? what's the dealer price?
Spo172 11-05-2003, 08:07 AM Ok... the part number to new 3" exhaust is SOA8377800, and MSRP is $449.95.
I already had a customer with an STi install it, and it looks and sounds great. Not too loud and not obnoxius!
Did not have a camera available at the time. If I get a pic within a recent amount of time, I will post it.
