Last week, ran a personal best of 13.911 @ 96.08. All passes were around 95-96mph. Launch was a 1.893. Temp was cool - 75. Barometer about 29.9. I think low humidity.
Today, ran a best of 14.220 @ 93.76. All passes were around 92mph. Best launch 1.874. Out of 9 passes, only had one 60' above 1.95, although the 1.874 was the only below 1.9. Temp about 70. Baro about 29.00. Higher humidity than last week.
Same map as last week. Just upped the boost on the abc; just one full turn. The boost showed as much higher since last week it averaged around 14.8 to 15.5 lbs. Today averaged from ~15.3 to 16.5.
What gives.
Edit: Oh yeah, and I was having some timing pulled; most probably knock events. Just on the last (best) run, though.

Sometimes I think they move the photo-receptors around on us at HRP ya know. I can't explain the disparity in times we get from pass to pass, night to night, week to week any other way.
Other than the goofy WRX computer that is.

MPH is hard to figure out on these cars, except for the fact that it has NO bearing on your e.t. and in fact seems to be inversely proportional to your times. When e.t. is slow, mph is up. When e.t. is quick, mph is down. I don't get it either, my friend.

well, you know why the boost was up, you turned up your abc and it was colder outside.
and driver consistancy plays a huge part obviously. I know we all try to do our best when you go out to run down the 1320, .... but try paying more attention to your driving. Get your game face on, focus on what you're doing, etc, etc, etc. If you don't do that, it's very simple to loose 2 seconds in 2 or 3 shifts.
I'm not saying that that has anything to do with last night, just thought I'd mention it, ... again.
And I will agree with Richard too about themmoving all the senosrs around. I think they do that sh*t for fun or something!!??

Probably a combination of pulled timing and higher intake charge temp.
Remember the stock turbo is starting to run out of breath at those higher boost numbers. This means it's efficiency is going DOWN. That results in HIGHER intake charge temperatures, less dense air and less horsepower.

Well, at least I should be happy about my launch. Not 1.8's but 1.9's consistently. It feels so much better on my psyche to be tearing up my clutch as opposed to my gear teeth. :-) Moving down the strip I haven't paid a lot of attention to. When I try to speed shift, that clunk makes me wince, so last night I was shifting a bit slower. Maybe that's it.
My thoughts were more of what Dom says, though. The logs showed that my boost was peaking higher, more closer to what I was wanting, but that poor turbo just couldn't maintain. At the end of 1st gear, 11.3 lbs. End of 2nd gear, 12.9 lbs. End of 3rd, 11.6. 4th gear started at 17.1 and then maintained high to mid 16 lbs, though.

that boost level is just fine.
figure out why timing was being pulled. what was the difference between the runs? when your car got hotter, did you get slower?
and what "clunk" are you talking about when you try to speed shift? maybe like what I was hearing in Mike's car when he was slamming through the gears? I never had a clunk, not something that would make me wince, or like Mike's car sounded.

Clunk=hard to explain. What I'd imagine is the transmission or driveshaft trying to spin and 'clunking' when the mounts stop them, if that makes any sense. Ed said his car did the same. When I slowed my shift down a little bit, it went away.
And as far as the car heating up, it might be me, but it seems like it goes faster (that or I'm going faster because I feel like I'm getting more into the groove).

Your probably hearing the 1-2 shift. That is your rear diff mount. You could get the harder bushings to have less slop in your driveline and less of a "clunk" but once that gets strengthened up, what else is going to give???
