Thumbs up gauge install... need advice

hey erybody, whats shakin. I just ordered the greddy peak/warning gauges for me rex and i need to know what you think is the best place to mount the sensors. i got EGT and Oil Temp. I am planning on putting the EGT a few inches aft of the #3 cylinder (best place?), does this mean i gotta take the exhaust manifold off? and should i put on an uppipe at the same time since its off? then where do i mount the oil temp probe, there must be a place tapped for a sensor that i can branch into, right?

will doing any of this set of those crazy warranty alarms at the dealer? i would think, to them, these are just visual or even possibly safety mods, they don't really improve performance at all. but i'm sure it gets them thinking when they see a pillar full of gauges...

thanks for the help, lata Bennie

c'mon, somebody must have an opinion, eh?

Lightbulb wasssuuppp?

whats up you *******, waddau think? should the oil temp probe go right after or before the turbo? seems like for correct startup it would be better before the turbo, so you know when the oil's warmed up enough; but for proper cooldown, you'd want it aft of the compressor so you'd know when its cooled down enough to shut down... i dont know, though, just some thoughts. thanks for the help

dude, not to be a negative person here, but first, you ask questions, then, you call people "*******." I mean, do you really expect anyone to help ya here?

Anyway, try using the ever so forgotten "SEARCH" feature or go to www.scoobymods.com. They should have all the info. u need.

peace.

whatever, jriggs...you ******! I try to help people as much as I can, and thus, I even tried to help madrex by pointing him to a place where he can go to research his install. I am no 'noob,' having joined i-club back in the day before i-club even knew of a split.

so, both you ******'s, take your chicken and choke it!

peace,
i.

The oil temp probe should go in the oil plug galley right below the intercooler. If you look straight down on the passenger side of the throttlebody, you'll on the block an allen type screw head. That is where you want to put the probe.

From subaru you will have to get an oil galley plug for your greddy probe. It's a $10 part.

For your EGT, that #3 cylinder is fine.

As for warranty issues, you need to take that up with the dealer. Each has their own rules and some will care about it, others wont. It doesn't hurt to ask.

haha

looks like somebody's all red cause they choked on their chicken... anyways, i ordered some Greddy 60mm's and a pillar pod all at the same time; and before you tell me about it, i think i've found out that nobody makes a pillar pod that holds the 60's. so i think i'm gonna get a Defi pod for the center. how's that sound? does anybody know if it comes with the backer plate drilled for three 60mm gauges? it looked like it might, but i couldn't tell... hey Riggs, i got the oil temp installed where you showed me. kind a a sqeeze gettin wrenches in there, but no biggie, its all in the books now. thanks for the info fella. gauge works great, oil seems to run between 90-100 degrees Celsius. i'm still tryin to find an uppipe with a bung, so i don't have to drill the stock manifold... anybody have problems with the HKS, it looks quality and it is fairly inexpensive.

btw, i stopped by the dealer today, Subaru's US rally cars are up on jacks behind the service area; OH WOW, those things are the deal! anyways, i'm goin back through there tonight, they said we can stop in and talk to the drivers and get posters and stuff...

thanks again Riggs, Bennie

p.s. teivaboy, thanks for the advice, riggs already got me set up with that same plug you are talkin about. but if you have the time, i'd like to hear what you think about my egt probe/uppipe question...
