I know its been done before.
I've seen a lot of pictures of driver side vent mounted gauges. Some take up the whole location while others will simply fit snug in the middle of the vent to still allow some air flow*. *I think

My questions:

Anyone know of a good write on this?
If you have done this, what are your overall thoughts and or suggestions?
Any downsides, besides the obvious, of having a gauge in such a location?

I personally like the idea. It looks really clean and have been thinking about doing it. I dislike the stock gauge, hard to read, small, so on and so forth.

However I like to do more research before going that route.

TIA

I think member "dz" had one. Send him a PM.

I had an EGT mounted in the vent on my old 2002 WRX:

I bought the kit and an Omori 45mm gauge online, but I can not find a link to anyone still selling the vent kit.

All the kit was is the stock piece with everything inside the center circle pictured below cut out:

It came with a trim ring that the 45mm gauge fit inside. I think without the trim ring it may have been able to hold a 52mm gauge, but I am not sure on that. I may still have the trim ring somewhere in my garage, I will see if I can find it and what it was made of, if my memory serves it was metal that had been painted but I am not 100% sure on that.

Nice, you know that looks easy to modify as well. I was looking at this and something as simple as a dremel and a trim border could do the trick.

Thanks for this info!
