Ok first off I don't know if this belongs in this part of the forum, but some possible bias and unbiased advice would be nice.

Ok here goes, I have a major hard on for an '08 STI, Silver BBS/NAV all options. So I am kind of in the market for a new car. So anyway I have been poking around and investigating ordering one and yada yada. So today I went out looking and negotiating again. I am not in any hurry I work about 18 consecutive days a month outside the USA. I am an international cargo pilot.

Ok so here's the problem, I just happened to stop at an Audi/Porsche dealer near the subaru dealership early this afternoon. Something caught my eye I don't know what it was but I stopped. Holy crap these Audi's are really impressive and now I am all twisted up. I can get a loaded STI for about $40K at best. I can get a fully loaded A4 for $43K or an S4 fully loaded for about $47K. Money is not really an issue I could go out and get a $100k car without and sort of financial strain really, but realistically I am not going to spend more than about $50K on any car no matter how much I want that '08 Porsche 911 Turbo...mmmm drool, wipe up.

Dilemma now loaded STI $40K or loaded Audi $43-$47k, damn I hate how those europeans do this.

Thoughts please....all are welcome

It all comes down to whatever rocks your boat. Since this is a Subaru forum, more than likely the persuasion will lean towards the STi. Both cars have tons of potential, but one won't rape you on repairs/tune ups. ;)

I appreciate the input so far, I have driven both the Subaru and the Audi. There just happened to be an SIT on a lot but without the options I wanted so I got to spin it for about 15 minutes. The '08 STI is a beast; fun, fast, and ferious. The Audi's are fun, fast, quiet, and definately designed with wicked power for the European Autobahn's. They are still made in Germany and surprisingly still come with a cigarette lighter and ashtray standard. I asked about the cigarette lighter and the sales guy from Germany with the accent says; "Dis is not your politically correct american manufactured fake import automobile. Dis is a fine piece of German engineering made en ze Deutchland, only difference is guages and ze forward glass, its ze same car az ze have in ze Germany." Anyway I appreciate the input so far. If I get an STI it will be my third Subaru I have owned and my fourth since I got my DL back in '94.

For the other comment I am not rich. The key to financial sucess is being educated and single. Believe me I was working for a little over minimum wage after college for about 3 years as small time flight instructor. Hard work and perserverance finally paid off in 2004. I have worked hard for what I got and I earn every dollar.

Advice: 1) If it isn't German, Japanese, or Italian you don't want it,
2) If it floats, flys, or fornicates; It's cheaper to rent.
