i had the same problem on my wrx too. I found out that the wastegate needed ajdusted and that took care of it. It gets annoying after awhile lol. But that took care of the rattling/ ticking noise on my car. i hope this helps

Also if you have an aftermarket downpipe it will make it more noticeable but try to adjust the wastegate one turn at a time and make sure you dont have boost spike.

well i got it diagnose at a local private shop that works on subaru and vw they told me that the sound was comming from inside the tranny. On the diagnose it they wrote drive shaft and gears. That sounds pretty bad but i wonder how the **** tranny break so fast at 35K on the car... I'm going to subaru dealer over the weekend to get it diagnose again because the dealer kept saying its not the tranny or whatever...

Dude! I have the SAME problem! It's driving me crazy and I bought mine with 40k and now it's got 43k.... It's crazy because I had mine checked out too and he raised it up and I reved it up and let off of it and he said it sounds like it's coming from either the tranny or center diff... But we got 60k warrenty right? mines a 05 though.

Good luck trying to claim your warranty on the drivetrain, SOA is absolutely TERRIBLE with transmission warranties! I have never heard of ANYONE getting one replaced under warranty...

Okay... I gotta answer for you! I took my 05' in and took a ride with a mechanic and he said..."well it's definately making a noise..." So I told him to lift it up and check it out. They we're actually super cool and gave me a car to drive that day and later called me to say it is my rear driveshaft bearing...(don't remember if that's how he said it) but anyway, it is under warrenty so they gave my a rent-a-wreck for a few days and I pick up my car tomorrow.

Throw-out bearing? Usually rattles when you are in neutral (clutch out) or are slowing down.

Nope, it only "rattles" when it's in gear and slowing down. Mines still in the shop with a new rear drive shaft bearing (in tranny), all heat shields removed, and all new exhaust... Still making that f'in noise! So they took my rental back and gave my a loaner till their finished with it. I called and complained to the manuf. and they said we would work something out. Their also now riding the dealership to get it figured out. They said they ordered more tranny parts and will be in early next week... sucks! Did they figure out whats going on with yours calvin?

play after a month and a week.... the noise was an Edexy clutch and flywheel!!!! So they replaced it and it runs beautifully.
