Tell me how much these tires suck and not to get them XI 326

Here are the 326's, they are not Falkens but made by the same compant Ohtsu?

Here is the Falken 512 I was uing last winter.

These are supposed to be comparable to the disconnected Falken Ziex 512 (that I have 2 new ones of).

I am on a budget. I got $650 bones for tires. Am I making a mistake by buying these from Les?

They are throwing in the tire siping for free, that is supposed to make them grip better or so they say hahaha.

I want perf but I need tires that can hang in Humboldt County rain. Any ideas on these tires or what I should get so I don't throw away $550 on these?

also right now I am screwed waiting for my new debit card so all I got is cash and checks

I have tested 235/45, can I go 255/40? on my STi?

<--- time to search

you know, for $650, you can actually get really good tires. It doesnt even have to be S-03 or something like that. If you want something that wears well, performs, LIGHT WEIGHT, you can get Toyo T1R for around that price range.

I'd suggest the Proxes4's. They are good in the rain and are inexpensive. Better than the 512s for anything other than Snow. I even tracked on them at the Subydude Track Day for 3 sessions

Wider is not better for rain/ice/snow, only for dry. So I'd stick to 235 size tires, no wider.

I got proxe 4's for under $500. Better than the 512's on ALL surfaces in my opinion.

true on all accounts.

Oh...and I felt they were comparable to the 512's in the snow. Pretty much the same. Rain better. Dry better.

I was actually disapointed in the 512's.

255/40 will fit. I have that size in my race tires, but I stick to 225/45 for the street.

I just put Falken ZE-329's on my wife's LGT. They replaced her aging ST-115's. The 329's look to have better wet traction and are M&S rated. Out the door including alignment was less than $600.

If you want more of a performance tire, I always recommend the Falken RT-615's. I have them on my STi and they're a great performer. Just don't take them in the snow or heavy rain.

Stiylin you n00b talk to AI and have them hook you up with some nice rubber (T1-R, RE-01R, etc. all for $650... ask them to price match).

After running 255/40R17 RT-615's for a couple years on my STi the extra width is not worth the ride harshness, uneven wear, extra unsprung weight, and the reduced steering response on the street. Maybe for street-tire-Stock autox (since 245 is the limit for STU anyways), but not for daily driving. Cramming more tire onto the rim does ultimately increase the size of your contact patch but it isn't worth the tradeoff IMO. On 9" wheels it's probably quite a bit better, though.

In a couple months I'm going to mount up the set of 225 RE-01r's that I have in my garage.
