hey brothers, im mike ive had a subaru cumulativley for about a year. i wrecked my 06 STi in an emergency situation, and the second time around i only had enough for a WRX. not bad considering.

So far the only mods i've been able to do are: Prodirve intake, Prodrive exhaust, Prodrive springs, STi wing and diffuser.

Anyway i have an 07 WRX, and wanted some info and/or advise on boost applications, and they are as follows:

1. how much boost is safe on the stock internals of my 2.5 WRX?

2. should i first install a downpipe, and headers? if so witch ones?

3. how much boost is my turbo capable of putting out?

Any input would be great? thanks for reading this noob bs and for anyone in the sacramento area, i have a full shop and tools for work complete with lifts and the whole bit.

First of all, don't put the shopping cart handle on your car. It looks nice the way it is :-P

Second, my opinion is to put Engine management in place first, my recomendation is in the form of a Cobb AccessPort.

I second ENgine Management. Within the OEM fuel mapping configuration there is a delay in the open/closed loop fuel trim. As you mash on the throttle, just as boost is built, the ECU fails to send the maximum amount of fuel. This cause a lean conditon, it is short but a lean condition none the less. Add a turbo back, or just about anything else and the problem only gets worse. Eventually it may lead to engine failure(rod knock). This is exactly what happened to mine. First motor at 27K, no warranty coverage, they claimed abuse.

Cobb AP, or if you are feeling really cheap, and don't care about support from a manufacturer, you can also try your hand at OpenECU tuning...but I don't recommend it for you Mike... :-P
