They do this...

Proof that groups of people capable of such an atrocity cannot be reached. Thing is, the insurgents make-up a lot more than one person whereas you'd expect this to happen at the hands of one madman. We're really dealing with the lowest of the low here, people... Illiterate, degenerate, ignorant sand monkeys.
Now before you call me out think about the type of people we're mostly dealing with there. For me reading these things negates the concept of having to further understand the cultures of the Middle East, particularly in Iraq. More and more examples of how ****ed up that region is pop-up everyday.

This isn't surprising at all. Al Zarqawi succeeded in blowing up a girls school during his time. It's not uncommon to find men handcuffed to the steering wheel of a car full of artillery shells. Usually al-Qaeda kidnaps them and threatens to kill their families if they don't "complete a misson of martyrdom". I could go on for hours.

They're not. Those are Soviet 160mm rounds, 155mm (American) use a tapered shell casing and the Soviet versions used a squared bottom casing. They originally didn't use that as they started as 120mm pieces but had to change to a more serious recoil system to prevent from burying the cannons baseplate when they switche to the 160mm shell. Also, American sheels use a non corrosive zinc/copper shell. Those are made with more iron made apparent by the corrosion.

Just old Iraqi rounds left over from the old regime. Those variants were used in the war with Iran but were definetly not acquired from Afghanistan even though they did use some ex-Soviet armament. Those are easily found all over Iraq, usually convieniently buried under 2 feet of earth with an expedient triggering device and blasting cap in place.
