Feeler: Phase II EJ25 with ported/polished DOHC heads
I am just checking to see how much one would pay for my EJ25.
EJ25 Phase II block, bought brand new in '05. Broke in with crude oil for first 10k miles. Amsoil Series 2000 0w30 thereafter. Burns no oil, runs flawlessly.
Phase I DOHC head. Rebuilt. Ported/polished. Valve shims to increase lift, milled to max tolerances. Very quick.
This engine is currently in my 97 outback and it's got a lot more power even with the stock exhaust. Once I get past the ~4300 power void from the ECU it opens up and throws you back until red line, with stock exhaust. My butt dyno tells me 185hp. I've raced a Magnum V6 with 195 HP and one passenger while I had myself and 2 other passengers, dead even.
I have a brand new in box ACT Stage II clutch and aluminum flywheel that I'd throw in for an extra $600. The OE clutch slips from the power and needs replaced after 15k miles if I ever want to run it 100% for any repeated length of time.
I could sell the entire car, but the body is definitely showing the wear and tear that a campers car would have; dings, chips, etc. This would probably reduce the over value of the enhancements the car has. The engine is perfect, I have a new (used) transmission with 65k miles on it . I have equal length headers and high-flow cat waiting to be installed as well (add $600). New KYB OE struts too.
I'm thinking about changing to a VW TDI as my driving is always long range highway and the MPG would be favorable for my driving. I'm in Chicago.
What do you guys think? I'd trade for a VW Golf TDI 5-speed, 2 or 4 doors.
