wanted to trade in an 06 WRX TR

So I go to the dealership to look at the Legacy Spec-B that they have and I love the car when I test drive it. We go inside and start doing the paper and the manager says he can give me 16000, and thats pushing it, for my 06 WRX TR. I know they are going for a good price, but an 03 wagon trades in at 14900. I dont understand this one bit. He said its because its a base model, but I dont get how a car, 3 years newer, bigger motor, better brakes, better safety features, etc... is only worth 1100 more than a 3 year old car with over 4 times the mileage.

I love the 02-03's and dont want to make them seem like bad cars in the slightest, but I just dont get how they are worth the same.

did you tell him that they made Forrest Gump after you and that alone earns you full purchase price back on your car?

dude, cypress coast never even called Hope when they got an AT rx8 in just cause they knew she wasnt buying it then....few years down the road she wont be shopping there...

my buddy steve offered to take us out in an rx8 and let her drive without Hope even asking

Go to kbb.com. look up trade in value (under excellent ~ unless you have body damage). THAT is the value of your car. Kelley Blue Book is the bible... and YES the whole industry runs on it. THEN... attack the selling price of the vehicle. If they are giving you low book on your car get 'low book' on the car they are selling!

I sell Suby's. If you need further coaching PM me. Remember, low book to low book. Or high book to high book. It's the difference figure you are chasing!

in the best interest of your safety, drive the car to the edge of the cliff, get out and then push the car over....if you drive it off the cliff you'll get nothing but dead....

'06 TRs

I was at a dealership yesterday (test drove an '06 LGT) and I saw about 4 '06 TRs in a row. All of them were marked at $21,500 or lower. This dealership is doing a "Only Price" thing, where they post their lowest price on the tag.

Seems like they are desperately trying to get rid of the '06s, so I am not surprised to hear about a low trade-in offer if they can't even move the brand new ones.
