Would like to know your opinion on porterfield brake pads R4s carbon Kevlar.... if somone used this already for autocross on stock brakes/rotors. Would like to know if it made a difference in stopping power. thanks

I haven't tried them (yet) personally, but I have heard lots of good things about them.

I've heard good things too except from this guy at the track with an E55. He got big time brake fade. I don't know if it was the car, him, or the brakes.

Edit: Nevermind, the R4S are the street version right? He had the 'racier' version

R4S aren't meant for the track, especially in a car as heavy as that. He needed the R4.

Edited above post. I couldn't figure out if the OP mean the R4S or the R4s.

I had those on my car.... didnt quite stand up to heavy track use for me... maybe it's me, but i did smoke them after one "*****-out" session... I'd say go endless....

another lil fyi... after one track event, the pads were worn down to about 10% left in the front, but the back is still at about 70-80%

thanks guys for the help....with the way the thread is going I decided that it probably won't be enough by itself so I'll go brembo gran turismo front BK and upgrade rotor + and the porterfield pad at the rear. I will also use R4..thanks again guys for the info

If you are going to go BBK, at least go Stoptechs. Brembo GT is way overpriced and not as well developed.

Really....this is the one that came from stock sti right..I used a wrx with stoptechs and they stopped really well. Same as the gt brembo but not sure if it was upgraded both front and rear. Haven't used an sti yet but I heard they stop really good too. I'm picking brembo only because of the price. I'm going to upgrade the pads for the rear (porterfield) too just for more stopping power. This is for autocross only.
You would think they are reliable enough because they put it on stock sti but I will definitely keep it at the back of my head. Thanks for the 2 cent. I have until the end of the month to buy.

I got a set and after 1 track event they were toast. They didn't stop well and had fading after a few laps.

Well, since they aren't track pads, other people shouldn't take that to mean they suck.
