I only had them on my car for 2 days before I was T-Boned, but thus far, I have to say I like them better than the Yokohama AVS Sports.
Very tacky tires.

View Full Version : Yokohama AVS ES100's brucelee 11-27-2002, 01:47 AM I only had them on my car for 2 days before I was T-Boned, but thus far, I have to say I like them better than the Yokohama AVS Sports. Very tacky tires. edkwon 11-27-2002, 04:23 AM Sounds good, i'm thinking about getting a set of those as my replacement summer/street tires when my S-03s wear out. Ed Rally Ho 11-27-2002, 08:05 AM Really? I thought the ES100 was a lower end comfortable/affordable performance tire while the AVS Sports are a high end hard core performance tire. The ES100's are supposed to be a bit better than 712's and the AVS Sports are meant to compete with S02's. And what happened to your car??? Lobster Man 11-27-2002, 12:08 PM I thought the AVS Sports were discontinued. Rally Ho 11-27-2002, 12:44 PM No, you're thinking of the AVS Intermediate, original Parada, or the A520. They were replaced with the ES100 and the Parada 2. 1fastGC 11-27-2002, 01:06 PM Originally posted by edkwon Sounds good, i'm thinking about getting a set of those as my replacement summer/street tires when my S-03s wear out. Ed Ed, C'mon now... s-03s > avs es100's lol Cal edkwon 11-27-2002, 01:51 PM S-03s are pretty expensive, i don't wanna keep buying sets of those and actually go with *cheaper* tires just to try them out, and maybe slide a little more :D The S-03s spoil me, i must temper my driving fun out with lower priced tires once in a while. Ed brucelee 11-27-2002, 05:14 PM SO3's are really good tires, but they are pricey. I've had 712's, AVS sports, SO2's, SP9000, T1S's, etc, etc. I can honestly say, I like the ES100's more than any of them, minus the SO2pp's. They are about equal to the T1S's, though the T1's grip harder, they are also very unpredictable. Turbo4me 11-27-2002, 10:14 PM How darty are they? That is the main thing I hated about my sports, they would tend to follow paint lines. My S-02's are the best tire I have ever owned, but are no longer available in 225/45/17. SO2pp's have softer sidewalls, thats why they didnt follow lines as much. Stiffer side wall = better Though, you do get that annoying "line walking". Lobster Man 11-28-2002, 02:32 PM If you want a tire w/ a really stiff sidewall go with the Falken Azeinis (sp?). Some one once told me after mounting them on a 16" rim, that they were as stiff as mounting a tire on an 18" rim. bamfwrx 12-01-2002, 09:43 AM I have been very impressed with with the es 1000's so far they were very cheap, like $89 for 16's I don't really have much to compare them to Steppin Razor 12-01-2002, 09:54 PM I've been very close to buying the ES100s on a few occasions but never pulled the trigger. I picked up a set of RE92s CHEAP for the time being (and winter. READ: TAHOE baby!!). The reviews of the ES100s look better than the 712s on tirerack and they even say that they have better treadlife than the 712s, but I would like to hear from some of you guys before I get the tires. I think mr. kwon and I were having a discussion on this very topic about two months ago and neither one of us have pulled the trigger yet.  EDIT: (12-07-02) This forum has been a frenzy of activity (this post is still on page 1 a week later  ) |
