stock 2.5 RS to 2.5 RS turbo
i'm thinking about getting the stage 2 turbo kit off of vividracing, but i still have some questions. since i have a stock 2.5 rs, is there anything i need to do or add to the engine before adding the turbo kit in order to keep the engine running properly? i want to make sure that the engine life doesn't get cut too much because of the added turbo.

Manage, manage, manage. A stage II kit shouldn't be too harsh on stock internals, as long as you never ever let it knock. Still, interenals are far safer as far as reliability, and doing them once means never doing them again probably.

Just make sure you get a good engine management system like the TEC or the Link2. You might also want to look into the E-Manage since its alot cheaper. Upgrade your fuel pump, fuel injectors, get some sort of knock detection like a J&S if you end up not going with a ECU that can detect it already like the Link2 does. Also check out getting a EGT gauge and possibly a wideband A/R ratio gauge.
Go to Scoobymods to get the walkthrough on how to do the dual feed fuel rail mod also.
Its really going to come down to making sure you have a good fuel and ignition management system and its tuned properly.

I took my AVO 2.5turbo to the race track friday. Runs great. Passin M3s like sign posts. that kit bolts in in a day. I spent an hour and 20min on the track and the car ran perfectly. Thats doin it right. proper tuning(the AVO kit is already tuned) will keep your car running safe for many miles to come. AVO kit comes with LINK.

Well, you have 2 choices. You can build yourself up to the turbo piece by piece, or you can get the whole shebang in one fat lump. If you want to just jump right in, contact Tom@www.Ludespeed.com. His stage 3 kit is very well sorted out, makes a lot of power (13s in otherwise unmodified RS' except for turbo-back and clutch). It includes a Link, choice of keypad or laptop tuning, base maps so you can drive it immediately, and most importantly he's a stand-up guy who will happily give you all the technical advice you need while you tune the last 5-10% out of your particular engine. This kit will give you everything your stock internals and fuel system can give you. It does replace the fuel pump however. I have every intention of buying this kit, with a few tweaks, and taking it to i-Speed for tuning. I figure I can crack 300+ hp on this setup.
If you want to go the piece-at-a-time route, or if that's what your wallet is telling you, then just go over all the turbo threads you can find here, lots of good stuff. Start with the "Turbo on a 2.5?" sticky in N/A, lots of good stuff in there. That will be faster and easier on you than waiting for everybody to repeat what's already around.

Tom's great.
My kit is on order.
Remember you don't have to go all out at first.
If you buy Tom's Stage I kit you are at a great starting point. Pay the extra 100 when you buy it for the stage III turbo. Then the upgrades to the higher stages are simple steps to take.
Stage I is 2400 -ish with the bigger turbo. Then you upgrade to stage II which is an intercooler(700), fuel pump(125) and a couple pounds more of boost ( bigger wastegate spring@$25). Then the next step is the Link (1300) and oil catch can. Tom is great because he'll let you upgrade step by step without paying a huge margin more than if you bought the stage III in the first place.
Look at this graph.
This is a stock 2.5RS with headers and bigger injectors with Tom's stage III kit.
THis is putting 285ftlbs of torque and 245HP TO THE WHEELS!!
This can put you in the high 12's if your tranny and clutch can handle it.

AVO2.5turbo kit won't do that!
Also if you want to go with a FMIC you can buy one from someone and skip that part of stage II.
That's what I'm doing. Only I have COBB cams, headers, and bigger injectors so I could very well be doing better than the above graph.
Oh yeah, Tom's kit comes with the parallel fuel line mod too.

Bill told me that kit actually had stock headers. It did have a turbo-back though. I don't remember hearing about the injectors, but those were pretty good A/Fs at high RPMs.
