AP and CEL

First, I'm currently deployed to Iraq with the Air National Guard right now. When I left home my WRX was throwing a CEL after installing a VF34 package with AP for EM. One day while I was driving my rex, the sensor in my uppipe decided to dethread itself and fly off. I plugged the hole with a bolt for the time being. I was told that since I installed the VF34 map as a real time map and not as a base, thats why the CEL is still on. Now I'm in Iraq and my rex's inspection is about to expire. I'm not sure I want my parents or friends trying to reload the VF34 basemap since they may do it wrong and f up my car. I guess my question is, I heard that a resistor can be placed into the point where that sensor plugs into in the engine bay and will get rid of the CEL. Is this possible, has anyone done this before and rid themselves of a CEL? PA uses the OBDII system so any CEL will result in my car failing inspection.
Thanks in advance!

The CEL is P0031 Front oxygen (A/F) sensor heater circuit low input, if I remember correctly.
