what do you guys think is the best turbo in the market right now? and the price range of them? thanks

"best" for what?? Everyone has a different opinion of the best.

What do you want out of your car? That will determine the "best" turbo for your application.

Personaly, I don't think you can go wrong with a T3/T04 with 'whatever' trim levels you want, ... and ball-bearing too ;)

there is no best turbo. there are better turbos for each type of thing you do. do you drag race, rally, autocrass, street car. what do you do.

alright man.....I have to be really mean, but this kind of question are just useless..........do you really want to turbo now?
what's the point of asking?...........cause would you actually shell out 4Gs of hard working cash to buy something people tell you to?
so save up like 5Gs first, then do some research, have some rough ideas generated by yourself, and ask some detailed question..........

n00b: Overbroad questions are a waste of our time! Specify what setup you have! and what you are tryin to DO with the car....if you wnat a PRETTY turbo for show then buy a HUGE turbo and get it chrome plated!...but if you want the car to be fast a streetable get a well mated turbo for your application! PLEASE SPECIFY!

its much like me asking you "what are the best shoes out on the market".

in order for us to give him a good recommendation, we need some idea of what he's trying to achieve and what his budget is. i can answer his question with a turbo of my choice, but it will do him no good. for example, what if i told him a t72 is the best turbo? would it do him any good? hells no. it'd be evil to mislead him and have him spend bank for custom exhaust work and parts just to run that turbo, only to find his poor little 4 cylinder can't spool that sucker. but i do admit, it would be kinda funny :D

we can help you better if you specify:

-what kind of motor are you running (ej20, ej22, ej25, etc.)
-bolt on or no (do you want custom piping or use what you have)
-what power levels are you trying to reach
-how much lag you're willing to have
-your budget

oh and please be atleast somewhat realistic with the last 3 questions.

I'm actually in the same boat, and still in the saving up money mode. I thought about kits, doing custom parts, swap and what not, but the one thing that has been on my mind is that I want no piggy backs. Otherwise, I want streetable car that probably pulls 300hp to the crank if not the wheel. Expensive I know, but I just afford to jump in with a kit or swap for that matter - it's my daily driver, and I just don't feel comfortable dumping $10K at once. Yep, I know it's going to cost me - but I still wanted to turbo it, in a piece meal fashion if possible, with the least amount of wasted parts (hence, I don't even have aftermarket exhaust).

What motor, what application? Track, street, autoX?

I recomend the AVO 2.5 kit for GC8
spool at 1500 full boost by 2300 RPM and on a stock 2.5
it raise output to 288 crank HP. Smaller is better with the 2.5
