2.5" VS 3" exhaust?

like it staes, 2.5" VS 3" exhaust pipes. I currently have 2.5" exhaust from the turbo back. Would I see any kind of benefit or negatives from changing the pipes to a 3" pipe? better top end? loss of torque? any imput is appreciated.

Depends on what kind of car you have. Usually with turbo you want a 3" while a N/A the biggest you'll need is a 2.5"

I've seen that 2.5" exhausts have a smoother acceleration profile, even with a turbo. Torque curves are not as high but are much flatter.

Well, I've had a few set ups on my wrx. Judging by your screen name, you have a turboed rs. If that is so, and you are running low amounts of boost, then I would just stick with the 2.5" straight through exhaust. If you are running higher boost levels (1+ bar) then I would go with the 3"
